Ray Lewis Needs To Be A Cowboy, Jerry Jones

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 28 Comments

It’s been awhile since I have shown myself on camera. Why? Because I had to recover from this season’s dismal ending. I was not happy. In fact, I was downright angry. And, I feared that the violence I’d portray on video could possibly, literally freak people out.
Embarrassed is an understatement. But I’m back. Bigger and Better.
Folks, this is my opinion on why we need Ray Lewis.
Enjoy.

Bye Bye Anthony Henry; Hello Jon Kitna

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 21 Comments

Well, we’ve got our backup quarterback, and quite honestly, I think Jon Kitna is the best guy out there who the Dallas Cowboys could have back up Tony Romo.
I don’t mind the trade at all. Henry certainly has declined over the year in Dallas and we’ve seen him get beat real bad in important games. Kitna can win games. He also can challenge Romo for a starting spot in my opinion, especially if Romo ever tries to have another one of those Buffalo-like games in his career.
Kitna had back problems this past season, and if you recall, there was a [...]

Rex Grossman Would Like To Play For Dallas Cowboys, But He Prefers Detroit Lions

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 26 Comments

I found Rex Grossman’s comments hilarious at this site, discussing his future in the NFL. He basically says that he’d love to play in Detroit, but he also likes Dallas. However, he admits that he couldn’t compete for the starting job against Tony Romo.
Wow, Rex, you’ve got a lot of confidence in yourself. That’s humble of you to admit you are not that good. But, the Cowboys released Brad Johnson to save $1.5 million in cap space and they are looking to trade or release safety Roy Williams to save another couple million. All of this sounds like the Cowboys [...]

Terrell Owens Helps Woman Nearly Plowed By Car

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

The Dallas Cowboys may not have had a season to remember, missing the playoffs with such a talented team and watching another December slump, but they sure had their fare share of good-hearted tales.
There was Tony Romo, who helped a family change a flat tire on the side of the road.
Then there was Tony Romo again, who took a homeless guy to the movies.
Now, we have Terrell Owens helping a woman who was nearly struck by a maniac driver. It’s true. You can read about the odd episode at the very end of this article out of Virginia:
On a walk [...]

Dallas Cowboys May Try To Reach Deal With Chris Canty

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 13 Comments

The Star-Telegram reported that Jerry Jones et al will try to hammer out a deal that would keep Chris Canty with the Dallas Cowboys. Canty isn’t a major force on the Cowboys defense, but I wouldn’t say he sucks. I am sure there will be plenty of teams–especially in the AFC–who will show interest in a guy who played all 16 games last year and seems to never get hurt.
If the Cowboys let Canty go, the starting role may go to Jason Hatcher or Stephen Bowen. Neither sounds too appealing.
Jerry Jones also revealed that he doesn’t want fans to expect [...]

Washington Redskins Want Chris Canty Reports Make Me Ill

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 32 Comments

The Washington Redskins beat writer in this story just says that free agent Chris Canty, who the Dallas Cowboys probably will not sign, would be a good fit for Daniel Snyder’s group of bums.
He says Canty, whom he rightly called a “second-tier” free agent, isn’t Albert Haynesworth, but they could get decent play from a guy who would cost significantly less.
Suddenly, the story turns to Redskins show interest in Canty. No. The Washington Redskins beat writer likes Canty. He has no one saying the Redskins like Canty.
Who is going to let a Dallas Cowboys go to the Redskins anyway unless [...]

Ray Lewis Says He’s Always Wanted To Wear The Star

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 14 Comments

DeMarcus Ware let the cat out of the bag this week, telling the press that Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis told him he wants to be a Dallas Cowboys.
So does Julius Peppers.
The story is pretty remarkable, I think. From NFL.com:
“When we played Ray Lewis and Baltimore at the end of the season,” Ware told the the Cowboys website, “He came over and pointed to my helmet. He said, ‘I want to wear this star on my helmet, that’s my dream . . . that’s my dream.’
So how do the Cowboys actually make it happen, especially when the top priority [...]

Jerry Jones Says ESPN Misreported Stories

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 14 Comments

All Jerry Jones wanted to do Saturday was announce that George Strait would open the new stadium with a concert in June.
But, he was surrounded by a horde of reporters who haven’t had his attention since the Dallas Cowboys troubling collapse in December. And they peppered him for 30 minutes on Terrell Owens.
Jones said he and his son, Stephen, never discussed releasing Owens, and he indicated that Owens will remain on the team. The report, written in January by Ed Werder, quoted two sources who said Stephen Jones was persuading his dad to release Owens to improve team chemistry. One [...]

Dallas Cowboys Show Interest In Defense, But Not Julius Peppers

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Matt Mosley of ESPN reported that the Dallas Cowboys are targeting LSU defensive end Tyson Jackson. Jackson is 6-foot 4-inches tall and weighs 295 pounds. He’s one of the top five ranked defensive ends in the draft, so I am unsure he’ll be there at pick No. 51, but it’s likely.
Jackson’s not a sack artist. He only had 3.5 last season. But he’s a hustler, scouts say, and he makes up for his lack of agility with hard work. What this interest in Jackson means is the Cowboys are likely going to let Chris Canty hit the free agent market, [...]

Julius Peppers Wants To Play For Dallas Cowboys

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 31 Comments

ESPN is using unnamed sources again in a report that Julius Peppers wants to play with the Dallas Cowboys or three other teams, two of which are in the NFC.
Oddly, the other teams are not named, so we can assume the Cowboys are at the top of Peppers’ wish list.
I have no idea how the Cowboys could sign Peppers when DeMarcus Ware will soon be, and deserves to be, the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. Other teams would certainly consider paying Peppers similar dough, but the Cowboys could not finagle it, not even Jerry. But it is interesting that [...]
