Does Julius Peppers Want To Play For Dallas Cowboys?

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 37 Comments

Julius Peppers made it known in the NFL world recently that the 29-year-old all-time sack leader for the Carolina Panthers no longer wants to play for the team. At least his team made the playoffs, but an embarrassing loss to the Arizona Cardinals obviously wore him out. Carolina Growl has some of the scoop here.  Now forget about money and the salary cap and the priority of signing DeMarcus Ware for right now and think about this for a minute: Peppers said he has interest in playing for several teams, but he won’t name what teams they are. The Cowboys [...]

Rams Hire Coach and It Ain’t Jason Garrett

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 14 Comments

After an odd return to St. Louis which made everyone believe Jason Garrett was getting the head ooaching job of the Rams, they announce that Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spaguolo is their choice. You can read more about it here.  There’s really no other team left that has an opening for Garrett.

Jason Garrett To Be St. Louis Rams Coach?

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 21 Comments

Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is back in St. Louis to interview with the Rams brass and possibly be offered the head coaching job. If Garrett takes the job, and if the Ed Werder report is true that he wanted Terrell Owens out of Dallas, then it means Jerry Jones decided to ignore Garrett’s wishes. The Rams have already said they wanted to have a coach in place by tomorrow, so it seems almost certain that Garrett will be offered the job.

Dallas Cowboys fire Defensive Coordinator

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Brian Stewart is jobless. After two years with the Dallas Cowboys, Stewart was let go today. Wade Phillips is close friends with Stewart, but midseason he took over the defensive calls after some poor performances against the St. Louis Rams and New York Giants.  This should not come as a surprise to anyone. Stewart never really grasped how to run a defense and the Cowboys never looked as powerful on defense as they could have.  There is absolutely no mention yet of whom the Cowboys will hire to replace Stewart, but Phillips could take over the defense and still remain [...]

Patrick Crayton: Terrell Owens Respects Jason Garrett To A Degree

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Patrick Crayton was on ESPN tonight with some interesting comments. For the most part, I can see his side of the story, but I really don’t think Terrell Owens will be on the team in 2009 unless serious changes are made. I think Dallas would love to trade him, but it is unlikely. Teams will surely jump at a released Owens, but no one really wants to trade for him, do they? Call Al Davis!

Jason Garrett Not Going To Detroit

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

ESPN is reporting that the Detroit Lions reached an agreement with Jim Schwartz to become their next head coach. He is the Tennessee Titans‘ defensive coordinator for the past eight seasons. The deal is for four years. This means the St. Louis Rams are the lone team that are interested in Garrett.

Dallas Cowboys May Have Trouble Signing DeMarcus Ware

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

It doesn’t even seem possible that the Dallas Cowboys could end up losing the best defensive player in the game because they are cash strapped from signing big-name talent to huge contracts that haven’t produced wins. DeMarcus Ware has one year left on his rookie contract, and he has become the hottest defensive player in the league, increasing his sack totals every year since he came on board. Although the Cowboys brass have said they want to make Ware a top priority this offseason, they may not be able to do that. And if they do, don’t expect the Cowboys [...]

Terrell Owens On Thin Ice In Dallas

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

I reported the possibility first and now it seems like the press is catching on. The Dallas Cowboys, according to several media reports, are strongly considering releasing embattled wide receiver Terrell Owens. The talent and production on the field may not be worth the attention the media gives him that can, and has, lead to team destruction. But it may be even worse than we originally thought. Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has apparently told Jerry Jones and other team brass that he’s looking for other jobs and will take one if he’s not made head coach and Terrell Owens is [...]

Michael Irvin Avoids Getting Killed

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 10 Comments

Michael Irvin believes he is one lucky man today. While driving to the gym, Irvin saw a truck roll up next to his vehicle. Two men were inside, and they   rolled down the window. Irvin rolled down his window. Then one of the freaks flashed a weapon. Oh crap, Irvin thought, I’m in some trouble here. Instead, one of the perps noticed it was Irvin, and told him that he is a Cowboys fan. They struck up a conversation about the Cowboys and how poorly the season ended. That’s all it took to save Irvin’s life. The freaks talked [...]

Short List Of Needs For Cowboys In 2009

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 30 Comments

By Carden Hedelt aka MBIIIeffect I’m not one to dwell on failure, which is what the 2008-2009 season was for the Dallas Cowboys. Finishing 9-7 with that much talent on the team is woeful, but since no heads have rolled in Dallas’ coaching staff minus ex-special teams coach Bruce Read, it doesn’t look like there will be any firings or hirings unless Jason Garrett takes a head coach job somewhere. That being said, we’re likely to lose a few players to free agency and we had a few obvious holes that need filling. Here’s what we need: 1. Safety: It’s [...]
