DeMarcus Ware Loses Another Award Fight

DeMarcus Ware, who didn’t receive one ballot for NFL MVP, now found out he lost the AP’s Defensive Player of the Year to Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison.

Harrison has 16 sacks and seven forced fumbles for the Steelers and led the NFL’s toughest defense to a second seed in the playoffs.

Ware had an NFL leading 20 sacks but played for a team that surprisingly missed the playoffs. Was that the chief reason a majority of 50 sports writers and broadcasters decided to vote for Harrison.

Harrison got 22 votes to Ware’s 13.

Did Ware deserve the award?

HELL YEAH DWARE SHOULDA WON.

In unrelated news the Cowboys hired Joe DeCamillis as their new speacial teams coach. He was the Jaguars Special teams coach.

I hate Dallas and even I have to say that Ware probably should have gotten it.  I think a team's overall performance can be argued as relevant when it comes to MVP, but not when it comes to Defensive Player of the year.

For the record though, nobody hates giving Dallas individual awards (well *I* do, but nobody in the NFL is biased against them on a regular basis). How many pro-bowlers did you have last year again?

This isn't some ongoing conspiracy; Ware was done in by the stench of his own team's awful gameplay in week 17.  It's not fair, but it's also not some anti-Dallas people pulling strings either. Let's keep a little perspective.

I think that is right Ware said he was let down by not receiving that award and that going to make him want to try harder. He said he wants the sack record. I think I just feel sorry for all those QBs next year because Ware is the last person you want with a chip on his shoulder. Also I agree with one writer saying that if you were too chose between Ware or Harrison to be on your team who would it be? Of course its Ware and that says it all to who should have received that award.

Glad to see Ware losses this award. Maybe this will spark him to be the team leader we need to make it to the next level. These kinds of awards reflect on the team success. The boys were not a team this year.

We need a leader to develop....not to buy one as the media thinks via free agency. We shall see....

I said there is no way they will give it to Ware. Remember they hate to give Cowboys individual awards........assholes

Both had outstanding seasons, so it's not surprising that the award went to the player whose team had the better season.  Dallas' underachieving season probably did Ware in.

Man that blows...talk about adding insult to injury.  I really thought Ware would run away with that award for sure but I guess having a D like Pittsburgh's behind you helps....Still its dissapointing.

Did he deserve it? I am not even a Cowboys fan and I can see that Ware is the best defensive player in the league. Harrison is a hell of a linebacker but the guy doesn't deserve to sniff Ware's jockstrap.

                                               The Bird Speaks!

it's just kinda another slapp in the face., but these are the things that will bring us together in the off season as a team. it's us against them meantallity that has to be cultivated now. if i were wade, that is the direction i would go.

I know that Harrison played hard to get to this point and everything but Ware only 13 to his 22. You know it had more to do with the Steelers defense being number 1. Ware had 20 sacks more solo tackles, runnings backs hardly ran to his side. The guy was a monster accept one game that is BULL. He had on more knock down pass and forced fumble. Im sorry but the sacks and solo tackles are alot harder to get to me than knocking the QB arm down. I know Harrison is a great player just feel like Ware worked really hard this year not to get this atleast.
