Irresponsible ESPN Confuses Millions on Dallas Cowboys Playoff Chances

Folks, I am here to save the day.

If the Dallas Cowboys want to make the playoffs, all they have to do is beat the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday. It is truly that simple.

However, for those of us who watched ESPN all weekend long, we got confused. Why? Because ESPN was reporting all Sunday that in order for the Cowboys to make the playoffs, they needed to win against the Eagles, have the Falcons lose once and the Bucs lose TWICE. Not only was the one and only Chris Berman saying this all Sunday but the ESPN ticker had it scrolling the entire day. Once ESPN figured it was completely wrong, it never corrected the errors. It just stopped running it and had the idiots stop saying it.

It was the most irresponsible garbage I have seen from the network since the Ed Werder locker room scandal.

It was untrue. Here are the scenarios:

  • Dallas wins, they are in with at least the 6th seed
  • Falcons lose and Cowboys win, then Cowboys are fifth seed
  • Cowboys lose, Cowboys miss the playoffs

they are regulated by the fcc, so i think they have to have a public # available?

does any one know how to get the program director's office # so we can all call and bitch?

yeah, you gotta start using both our big wrs in the quick slants. did anyone see how far ed reed was playing in center field. they knew we were going deep and were in a prevent most of the game. well you want to take ed reed out of his game, slant to owens and see if he can tackle him in the open field. i'll bet your ass, he's up 15 yards closer to the line on the next play......now suddenly your deep game could work.....and espn is a stock pile of shit as far as i'm concerned

I saw last night during MNF on ESPN, they showed the list of NFC teams still in the playoff hunt. They still have us behind Tampa Bay. I hate that network. They never cease to amaze me. I hope the Cowboys stuff a stanky sock in all their mouths by winning it all...

Also Owens and Roy are good at running after the catch and fighting for more yards which play is best for that??? Sorry mistyped

Also Owens our good at running after the catch and fighting for more yards which play is best for that???

Yes davedallasfan it is so irritating knowing we have Roy and  T.O. and neither get the ball so much. That is why I figured that last year Garrett was more of making big plays at the start of the season. Such as the deep ball to T.O.. Then at the end teams caught on which I think ruined our chances. Now this year Im afraid its the same thing. The slants seemed to be an important play. Think about it if all Owens and Roy do mainly go deep what keeps the cornerbacks from expecting anything else. Use the slant now they have to worried about you going short and deep.

Dirty Bird I think you are right as long as Garrett figures out what he is doing wrong. I think Matt Ryan should have a shot at rookie of the year. He has turned his team into a great team from being one of the worst last year. I still enjoyed seeing him hit the big play for the field goal at the end of the Chicago game at the start of the season. Chicago was all happy from finally passing you all up then to have it taken in one pass as running out of bounds with seconds left.

The Cowboys attempt to make the playoffs has been one of the most entertaining stories of the last few weeks. I have a feeling that this team is going to be a handful if they make it. Demarcus Ware for Defensive MVP!

roy williams reminds me alot of micheal irvin. just the way he carries himself. and the way he runs. he is good at the slant. and owens maybe the best ever???? jerry rice thinks so??? so what in the hell are'nt we using this play 6-10 times game. has antone seen the results of when owens gets hit on the slant. he's scored i think 3 of his tds on it this year????correct me if i'm wrong.

bingo someone hit the target......thankyou texas......lets look at that statement for one minute. the quick slant. do you know who the best 2 ever at the quick slant were? jerry rice ofcorse, and our own micheal irvin. well let's here what jerry rice once said about terrell owens," he's thr greatest runner i've ever seen catching and running with the quick slant. roy wiliams was told to teach the quick slant to calvin johnson so he could be a complete nfl wr. so he must be good at it as well???? use the damn quick slants....garrett!!!!! you got maybe the 2 best at it right now......DAMN IT.....

Now can anyone really explain why are offense is not producing. I mean last year we were such a high scoring offense. Its like Romo can only get the ball to Witten. Is Garrett trying to hard for big deep plays with Roy and T.O.. Maybe he should try some more slants and short routes more often since the defense that we play against are so good. We have two elite receivers and we need to figure out how to use them before we get into the playoffs.

Cris Carter sounds like an idiot I cant belive he is saying that the Cowboys should not be in the playoffs. I mean the way they have been playing is crappy and they dont need to be in the playoffs if they do play like that. Just the way it is said like there is not other teams out there to pick at. Like teams that are going to get in with only 8 or 9 wins just because there division sucks so bad.

If Dallas wins they are in though. That is all that really matters. Screw ESPN. I didn't even want to watch football at all yesterday since they had me believing that Dallas really had no chance. Come on Cowboys. Give us five straight. Please.

They are reporting now that if Oakland gets the win over Tampa at noon Sunday, that Philly will make the playoffs with a win over Dallas. I guess they didn't realize that there are only 6 playoff spots per conference because CAR, ATL, NYG, ARZ, are already in, and both MIN and CHI could also make it 10 wins still. Even if Philly wins they need more help than just a Tampa loss with a finishing record of 9-5-1 IF they won. Maybe someone should send them the message. DALLAS HAS THE TIEBREAKERS OVER TB (head to head) and CHI (conference record). MIN would win the division if this happens (conference record) and DAL would have the same tiebreaker as MIN (conference record).

Also Wade said Romo needs to start trusting Roy Williams to jump up for a ball even though he is covered. Sounds like it is the truth Romo needs to start letting him fight for it or they are never going to stop double teaming Owens.

Did anyone hear Cris Carter(ESPN) talk down on the Cowboys. Saying that basically they are not worthy to be in the playoffs. That it sends the wrong message to kids. ESPN is just getting out of hand. SHUT THEM DOWN!!!

ME ME ME ME ME!!!! That and it will occupy my daughter for a little bit.

AMERteam! Welcome. Glad you finally posted a comment.

Who wants a video blog??? Let's hear it!

i dont even know why we bother with espn they are such cowboy haters anyway.

Hello all, I'm new to this site, I've been reading for awhile though.

As far as Espn...bleh enough said.

I saw the same thing. They actually tricked me. Until later in the day, when TB lost, it hit me that Dallas was still in the mix with just one TB loss. ESPN is full of dookie. They have it coming out of their mouths...
