Dallas Cowboys Get Playoff Help

by Cowboys

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the San Diego Chargers today, which opens a new hole for the Dallas Cowboys to slip through to make the playoffs.

One thing is for sure: The Dallas Cowboys of 2008 are now the New York Giants of 2007. The GIants may fail like the Cowboys did last year, but the Cowboys are not performing like a team that should be feared in the playoffs.

So, the Cowboys once again control their own destiny. If they beat the Eagles next week, they are in the playoffs.

A little overreaction I know. But he does need to take resposibility for his part.

Your still my quarterback Tony. Get it together man. There are 5 games to go yet.

HAHAHA Steamroller calm down...trade Romo I think that might be a little off but who knows. You might not be off trading Flozell Im about sick of all the false starts especially with all the money he is making. Another guy that needs to improve is Gurode how many times does he hike the ball too soon or too high to Tony. I mean wouldnt it be a shame to get to the Super Bowl then have that happened.

Did any of you hear Tony say that that second interception was just thrown up there for the reciever to fight for, and was essentially a reception or the same as a "punt". I heard the sound clip on theTicket and have been trying to find the full post game interview where he said that, but can't find it. He said it though, and that to me is unbelievable. It ended up being 3 points for Baltimore.

He is starting to lose me a little bit with responses like that guys. I don't blame that loss solely on him, and I still love my team, but I have got to where it pisses me off to hear him try to dig himself out of the hole he is in with excuses and explanations like that. Hearing him say that "the Guys" fought? too kind of hit me wrong. It's like he is seperated from the team when you hear him talk. I know he was playing hurt again, and he didn't have a good game again, but he needs to take responsibility for the role he played in that hurt or not.

As a matter of fact, I would not be opposed to trading him today. After hearing that. I think Matt Cassel might be a better QB right now anyway. He can be had for "Tony Romo" money. Brett Favre is probobly leaving the game again after this year, AGAIN. Today I traded Tony and Flozell to the Jets for D'Brickashaw Ferguson and picked up Cassel in free agency. One more quote or excuse like that, and he can follow Brett's footsteps as far as I am concerned. Aren't you guys glad I'm not the GM?

The GM is also the owner so he wont fire himself. If phillips gets canned I would fully endorse Bill Cowher as the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Isnt that a very dangerous play the option? I mean we for one have no good back ups and you have your star QB running the ball that in college the QB takes a hit for sometimes.

SBorBust
Maybe the only coach he can work with is Barry Switzer lol

"im just waiting to see who’s head is going to roll first if the Cowboys dont make the playoffs"

My question, No. 9, would be, "Who would you fire, and who would you hire as the replacement?"  We've been through Gailey, Campo, Parcells and Phillips and haven't won a Super Bowl.  What is the constant during that period?  Hint:  GM.  Until that problem changes, we will just be the Raiders with a better regular season record.  Having accountability at the GM position is a necessity, and there is none in our organization, because the owner and GM are the same.  He's not going to fire himself no matter how badly he performs.

Jason Garrett had a pretty good play called with the option.  It was wide open for a long gainer if Choice could have held onto the ball.  He's been criticized for the call, but the only thing that was wrong with that play was its execution.

Tony Romo needs to pick it up, What happend against the Ravens haha. We could have one if we stopped One of those Two big runs. =(

im just waiting to see who's head is going to roll first if the Cowboys dont make the playoffs

The Bucs surely fumbled their chances.

My Bucs certainly picked a bad time to completely fall apart. Their chances are minimal. While they may beat the Raiders, relying on others to lose probably won't work out. Next week in Phila should be a great game...

Now the question is, what is Jason Garrett going to do with this offense? He needs to get more creative and stop sticking to one thing.

Mohammed and Tnew- welcome to the landry hat. I hope you guys become regulars to the best and most entertaining Cowboys site on the Internet. Thanks for visiting

Mohammed, there are 2 wildcard spots.  If Atlanta wins, they get the #5 seed.  If the Cowboys win also, they get the #6 seed no matter what based on tie-breakers over the Buccaneers.  If Atlanta loses and Dallas wins, then Dallas will get the #5 seed and somebody else will get the #6 based on other games (it could be Atlanta or Tampa Bay, I think).  If Dallas loses, it will be Atlanta and Tampa Bay most likely.

Wait, The Atlanta Falcons are 10-5 conf 7-4
The Dallas Cowboys are 9-6 conf 7-4

So in order for them to make playoffs....

They have to beat philly AND Atlanta has to Lose to St. Louis

Is this not right? Because if Atlanta wins their 11-5
Dallas would be 10-6

meaning they wont get into the wild card correct? please reply ASAP

thanks dirty bird ..The Falcons are this years best nfl story...also the nfl tv network was singing the same song last nite about 2 taampa losses ...couldnt get it 1st tie break is head to head games right??

I am kind of hoping the Cowboys make the playoffs. Now that the Falcons are in I don't really have any ill will for anybody. It is a love fest in the realm of the dirty bird.

On the ESPN web site..Playoff scenarios..Dallas at Minnesota..Atlanta at Arizona..We own the tiebreakers with all the other teams..Assuming we beat the Eagles...

I miss Bill Bates!  and i'm so tired of espn

Bates Fan, they never really corrected it either. They just sort of deleted the ticker and woke up. They want Dallas fans to flip. Ed Werder is their saint and well....

I Kept going over the scenarios for 3 hours after Berman said it along with the ticker at the bottom of the screen. That comment wasn't even close...I think they just want Dallas out so they can write more drama BS as the reason they don't make it

ESPN got something wrong? The HELL you say!

Bates Fan, I agree. ESPN is a joke of a network. That's all I can say. It's not too hard to figure out how the Cowboys can get in. ESPN is just a joke

Why the hell was ESPN saying this morning that for Dallas to get in, Atlanta had to lose at least one game AND Tampa had to lose both of their remaining two games?....I was going nuts trying to figure out where they came up with that.

thanks redskins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're welcome.

Welcome Dallas14K,
Your question was answered. But yes, we do control our own playoff destiny. Even a loss and we could still get in with the scenario Ryan has.

All the injuries, all the drama, all the disappointments......and we are still in it

Does this feel like destiny?

Eagles are playing like shit, especially our defense.  And we have been at the wrong end of the field position battle all game.

Philadelphia will be extremely lucky to pull this out.

Dammit.

Actually we can lose to philly and get in as long as chicago loses to green bay, tampa loses next week and atlanta loses to the vikings and whoever they play next week and washington loses to 49ers next week or philly this week

in that scenario us and philly get in, we are the #6 seed

Skins are owning Philly as we speak!

Oops, my mistake, you are right.  I forgot we play philly next week!  Well, we are lucky we get a shot at them!

BY US BEATING PHILLY WE ARE IN, SO THEREFORE WE DO HOLD OUR OWN DESTINY. IF WE DID'NT PLAY PHILLY WE WOULD ACTUALLY, MAYBE, SCREWED?????

Actually, we still don't control our own destiny.  As it stands, Atlanta and Philadelphia hold the playoff spots.  We need one of them to lose in order to control our own destiny.
