The Dallas Cowboys continue to have injury problems.
Safety and special teams guru Pat Watkins injured his neck and was placed on injured reserve. His injury opened up a spot for Adam “Pacman” Jones who will probably return punts and maybe even kicks offs Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mike Jenkins continues to heal from his hamstring injury and coach Wade Phillips said he is unlikely to play Sunday.
The team is thinning out pretty good. Guard Kyle Kozier and rookie running back Felix Jones are also on the injured reserve.
Now, the coaches are wondering if Marion Barber is going to be able to play with his dislocated pinkie toe. If Barber is out, the carries go to rookie Tashard Choice, who gained over 1,000 yards at Georgia Tech, but has not been giving the opportunity to shine with the Cowboys yet.
The Steelers were able to stop the NFL’s rushing leader, the New York Giants, cold in their cleats, so it would be quite the feat if the Cowboys were able to penetrate that defense with a rookie running back who hasn’t started a game this season, let alone carried the ball very much.
It is safe to say that the Dallas Cowboys are coming into this matchup without several key players, and with some players who have injuries. A win is necessary to keep the Cowboys in the playoff hunt, and a loss would bring them below the Washington Redskins and two teams out of the playoffs.
