Wade Phillips To Coach Defense
Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Brian Stewart is basically just a guy on the sidelines now. Hashmarks is saying a source with the Cowboys says Mr. Fix It himself, Wade Phillips, will call the defensive plays from now on.
We broke that scoop here Monday. It’s not a surprise nor is it really newsworthy anymore. Phillips basically said this during his Monday news conference.
The Cowboys aren’t particularly horrible when it comes to defensive rankings. They are middle of the pack, but fourth in the league for sacks. Those sacks though usually come when the game has no meaning. Few of them have been what we would consider good sacks that have a positive effect on the outcome of the game for the Cowboys.
No matter what, this was a good move. Stewart should have never had this job, despite the 7th ranked defense last season.

I really hope this changes things, but when we can’t cover or tackle lately…….will it? How bout a Tashard Choice speach before the game? I think most of our players have lost confidence on both sides of the ball. Damnnnnnnn something needs to change!
October 22nd, 2008 at 4:46 pmI doubt it will change anything but we’ll see
October 22nd, 2008 at 5:04 pmI think it will help. Let Wade concentrate on D while JG does the offense. At the very least shake things up. And fine any defensive player who does not have any blood on his jersey after the game
