Adam “Pacman” Jones Didn’t Start Fight

The CBS affiliate in Dallas has revealed why Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones was involved in a scuffle at the Joule Hotel in Dallas late Tuesday night.   According to this article, Jones wasn’t the cause.

Sources say body guards assigned to keep the 25-year-old out of trouble were switching shifts and the one coming on duty didn’t agree with Jones being there. Guards watch over Jones 24-hours a day to make sure he stays out of trouble. Jones, who sources say was drinking, attacked the body guard in the bathroom of the upscale hotel. A mirror was broken in the confrontation.

If I were to put myself in Jones’ position, I’d be mad if I was constantly being told where I should and shouldn’t be by some bodyguards, especially in a place that was deemed OK by owner Jerry Jones.

“This was a private party. This was an area that I had specifically – for his birthday one week earlier, because it was a private area — I had said that it was okay to have it there,” said Jerry Jones. “We have clear lines, and I have good, clear places – names of places – that even with security, that is not in his best interest to go.”

If CBS has these facts, then ESPN should have these facts too. But I have had Sportscenter going all morning and there has been no mention of this interaction with his bodyguard. The anchors have said that the Cowboys have tried to protect Jones, but they can’t protect him from himself and is doomed to be banned from the NFL for life. If they can speculate that Jones will face a lifetime ban, then they should be able to report why the fight happened in the first place.
