Adam “Pacman” Jones Scott Free
Adam “Pacman” Jones will not be reprimanded or punished by the Dallas Cowboys for the incident reported as a fight at a Texas hotel Tuesday night. According to the Dallas Morning News, who was a day late on the story, Jones was at practice today.
However, the NFL has launched its own investigation. The police say they believe Jones was drinking when he had the altercation with a member of his own security team. Charges were not filed.
On ESPN Radio, NFL commish Roger Goodell said he was disappointed he had to talk about the incident, but the Dallas Morning News twists the words to make it seem like Goodell said he was disappointed in Jones. That’s not what he said. The irresponsible reporting of this incident continues, despite hordes of people demanding fairness on the alleged incident.
You can bet your bottom dollar that Jerry Jones and the rest questioned the security guard, Tommy Jones, and came to an intelligent conclusion that was likely something like this: the press blew this minor incident up like you cannot believe.

This is getting out of hand. I mean we are not the only team out there. I hate how we are surrounded by media everywhere. Jerry Jones should find what media they can trust and only let them around the team.
October 9th, 2008 at 6:37 pmThe media simply reported the information they collected. The media did not make Pacman get into a fight. Pacman did this to himself.
October 9th, 2008 at 7:03 pmIan, shut up. Seriously.
October 9th, 2008 at 7:06 pmWhy do you feel so singled out landryhat? I mean, Plaxico Burress got just as much coverage for supposedly doing $1,800 worth of damage to a vehicle he rented. And as anyone who has ever had any bodywork done to their vehicle, it doesn’t take much damage to reach that amount.
October 9th, 2008 at 7:23 pmYour team knew Pacman was a lightning rod when they traded for him. They also knew that any transgression involving him, no matter how minute, was going to attract attention.
You sound like a guy who married Brooke Burke and then gets mad because all the other guys keep looking at her.
They reported by word of mouth and were not truly the facts yet. You kinda look stupid when you say one thing and then the police report say otherwise. He jumped the gun and should have waited for more of his facts. Hell I wish the media would surround your team but no one likes them anyways. The truth is this wouldent have went this far if it were somebody like Deshean Jackson or somebody. It has to do with him being on our team and the name of the player.
October 9th, 2008 at 7:25 pmPlaxico didnt get as much coverage. This is on every news channel, ESPN, NFL, Radio. It didnt have to be Dallas talk it was everywhere.
October 9th, 2008 at 7:28 pmPlaxico that is complete BS. When Chris Henry gets arrested it gets covered. When Marshawn Lynch has a hit-and-run, it gets covered. ESPN reports the information they get. They don’t pick on Pacman. Pacman made his own bed, and now he’s laying in it.
October 9th, 2008 at 7:52 pmI meant to address TEXAS not Plaxico.
October 9th, 2008 at 7:53 pmThis was a minor incident but due to jones’ past the media will overblow this situation like there was no tomorrow
October 9th, 2008 at 8:41 pmJust admit it when anything happens to a Dallas Cowboys player it is more news than anything get over it. That is why you spend time on this blog because yours is to damn boring. If Landryhat were to ban everyone that was not a Cowboys fan you would kill yourself because your life would be to damn boring. Cowboys news is 10 times better than any other team.
October 9th, 2008 at 9:09 pmBring it all on guys! We are 4-1 with lots of crazyness going on, media scutiny, players playing below expectations. Get this stuff out of the way early in the season rather than late.
Just increases my gut feeling more that we will kick it up late and go all the way.
Time for a nice Seasonal Pumpkin Ale…ahhhh
October 9th, 2008 at 10:21 pmBeing “America’s Team” works both ways. You want to be the superstars with all the glitter and glitz? You need to accept that everyone is going to be under a microscope and that the media is going to jump at anything even remotely newsworthy.
Pac Man Jones made headlines long before he was a Cowboy. Now that he’s part of “the most popular team in the world” as Landry hat likes to say, he’s going to be an even bigger news item. You can’t have it both ways. If you want to be a superstar, you don’t get to say “Leave us alone!” when the press starts getting annoying. Take the good with the bad, accept that this is the price of being a very popular team with a strong tradition of winning, and get over it.

Plaxico got the attention for skipping practice and not telling anyone, then bitching about it when he got suspended. The vehicle wasn’t brought up until later, and there aren’t headlines on ESPN about it. I just thought it was worth running because it lets everyone see how chicken sh*t Plaxico is because he’s not paying the guy and for putting down that he has a certain kind of insurance, which turns out to be a lie.
October 10th, 2008 at 12:30 amIan, what’s the difference between Chris Henry’s arrest, Marshawn Lynch’s hit & run and Adam Jones’ incident in a hotel room? Adam Jones is the only one without police charges. The media ran with it before knowing how severe the scuffle was. Stephen A. Smith and all the other analysts were crowing about how stupid Adam Jones was for putting himself in a situation where he had to resort to violence. There were some analysts suggesting that Adam Jones’ career might be over, but Wade Phillips is saying that he’s going to play sunday. The media was right to report that Adam Jones was in a scuffle, but to assume that he was in an all-out brawl with one of his security guards was what they did wrong.
RG got it right.
Oh yeah…..you’re an idiot Fred Sanford.
It is getting out of hand because Adam has a troubled history with the police. It is a gamble Jerry Jones took and he was aware of the media scrutiny that would follow. It was the same type of gamble he took with Tank Johnson and Terrell Owens.
However, sometimes the media blows small incidents out of proportion. In my personal opinion, you should be admonishing Adam Jones for not controlling his temper. You should also remind the readers of the blog know that police charges have not been filed and details are at a minimum.
October 10th, 2008 at 12:37 amOh Adam Jones is dumb as sh*t for even being out, but he’s taking heat for stuff he might not deserve. And Jerry has taken a big risk on Adam and that’s exactly why this is drawing so much attention. I won’t disagree with you there, Joseph.
October 10th, 2008 at 1:11 amMB3, you, much like Jerry Jones, would defend the terrorists who flew the plane in the the World Trade Center if they played for Dallas and could stay anywhere close to Santana Moss.
Pacman Jones got plenty of attention long before he became a Cowboy and would be doing so no matter which owner had low enough morals to take him on.
Oh yeah, you still suck.
October 10th, 2008 at 6:06 amWow we had to go to the trade center to prove a point… Idiot
October 10th, 2008 at 8:29 amI usually don’t respond to you T.E.X.A.S, because compared to you, even MB3 seems brilliant. I am impressed, however, that you can even spell “idiot,” even though it’s probably your real name.
October 10th, 2008 at 8:57 amMB3, you, much like Jerry Jones, would defend the terrorists who flew the plane in the the World Trade Center if they played for Dallas and could stay anywhere close to Santana Moss.
Say whatever you want this says it all.
October 10th, 2008 at 9:00 amDid you say something again? I couldn’t hear you.
October 10th, 2008 at 9:06 amThanks for proving my point Fred.
October 10th, 2008 at 11:42 amAs someone who knows people who worked at the world trade center on 9-11, I’d kindly ask that we try to find some other analogy to prove our football-related points. Thanks.
October 10th, 2008 at 12:27 pmAs someone who joined the Marines on 9-12 because of that terrible day, and someone who lost friends in Iraq… I would like to tell you things that could get me banned from my favorite site, so instead I’ll just say… you are lower than a cock roach. Talk football, or get the hell of our house. Think before you speak you poor child, you disgust me!
October 10th, 2008 at 2:00 pmExtactly what I was saying this has nothing to do with 9-11.
