You remember this guy I wrote about who is running this eBay auction? Well, his name is Evan, and he is a 24-year-old Ohio University grad who now lives in Cincicrappi. He has been a Bengals fan since birth. He is auctioning off his Bengal fanship for a good cause. He took the time to do a quick interview to discuss why he is selling his fanship to the highest bidder.

What was the final straw for you as a Bengals fan?

I guess it only took me about 15 years, but I realized the ineptitude of Mike Brown. The guy doesn’t care about the city of Cincinnati or the fans of his team. He’s been the owner since 1991 and nothing has changed. The team sucks every year. They peaked in 05, but it’s almost like it has gone full circle and they are back to square one. He threatened to leave the city of Cincinnati, the city built him a stadium. The fans want a better team or we will leave him. I could probably rant about this for an hour.

How does it sound: Evan, a Dallas Cowboys fan?

Different, but a lot better than Evan, the Cincinnati Bengals fan. It can grow on me. Honestly, I really hope I dont get picked up by the Cardinals. Im not sure its much better over there.

Why did you choose the Leukemia Society as a donor for your fanship proceeds?

A few different reasons, but I think the fact that it represents about 25% of all children’s cancer has a lot to do with it.

Could the Bengals ever get you back as a fan?

If I ever see Mike Brown take the steps necessary to build a decent team in this city I would have to think about it.

If the Bengals owner Mike Brown was in front of you now, what would you say to him?

Sell the team. If you aren’t going to sell, swallow your pride, admit you were wrong and start over. Hire the necessary staff to make this a competetive franchise in the NFL. How can you justify the product you have put in front of the people of Cincinnati for the last 18 years? Cincy is a great sports town, if you put a winning team on the field the city will love you.
