Peter King on Cowboys: Best Talent; Not Best Team

Sports Illustrated columnist Peter King hands it to the Dallas Cowboys today. King says the New York Giants are the NFL’s best team, which gives some serious credence to The Landry Hat’s awesome power ranker, Ironman.

Somewhere in between the Cowboys giving up 37 points to the Eagles and 381 yards to the Redskins — both at home — and listening to Terrell Owens complain last night that he’s not getting the ball enough, I came to realize the team with the best talent is not the best team. At least not now.

You know what, King is right. He goes on to say that the Giants have the hunger to win. The Cowboys right now are all flash and talk. Once again, there does not appear to be a true leader. I watched the Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburg Steelers game Monday night, and I saw leaders. I saw the Ravens Ray Lewis lead. His team may not have won, and they were overmatched offesnively anyway, but that defense sure looked great. Where is our Ray Lewis?

King also has Jim Zorn as coach of the year and Eddie Royal rookie of the year, not Felix Jones

“Best receiver in the draft,” said Mike Shanahan a couple of weeks ago, and if this pace keeps up — with 27 catches, he’s on schedule for 108 receptions, and he just might get there with Cutler throwing to him — he’ll be the perfect complement to Brandon Marshall.

You know concerning the Giants, you can't take away their top status because they are undefeated and they are the reigning super bowl champs. Honestly though, who have they played? The caught the 'skins in a horrible game. Then they had St. Louis and Cincy in which they almost lost. I think they are really going to struggle the second half of the season when they play some real teams.

We'll see plenty in philly on sunday, none of the aforementioned will be those though....

Don't be too hard on yourself. I saw plenty of players showing true leadership skills last sunday in Dallas.

I mean there was Jason Campbell, Santana Moss, Clinton Portis, London Fletcher...

i agree with pretty much everything except zorn.... Dick Jauron is who'd id give it to edwards is a great game manager and they're playing good defense.... he's got the bills 4-0 without even playing in the division yet which is good comfort... skins are 2-0 vs teams they should beat and 1-1 vs good teams and a schedule easier than ours coming up 3-12 if zorn can get them 3-1 over the next 4 games then i'd consider him

i watched eddie royal at VT he's the real deal he can return the ball to....... never would have considered him more than a slot WR in nfl.... plus he's a local grown kid for me so i wish him the best!
