The Field Goal-Gate In Texas Stadium

by Cowboys

The Landry Hat will not let this die. The referees purposely miscalled this field goal as retribution for Jerry Jones’ comments about saint Ed Hochuli. Here is more evidence, a still frame of the field goal at 2:17. This evidence is so strong that anyone who says the field goal was good looks foolish, and I don’t care if you are a Cowboys fan or not! Now, fruitcakes, look at the arrow and the circle. The circle is clearly outside of the yellow pole. It is CLEARLY not a good field goal. Dallas wins. Dallas wins.

Dallas won 24-23.

Don’t worry, I’m not here to bash Dallas. When I saw your post I decided to take an objective at the video. Here are some clues to let you know that the field goal was good. First of all, The ball was kicked way above the goal posts, and the camera angle was deceiving. Second, The refs had the best angle in the stadium, better than any camera angle on TV. The best clue was the crowd reaction, the crowd right behind the goal posts. If the field goal was actually no good, the crowd would have errupted, instead, they were silenced. The field goal was good. Besides, it’s too late for a review.

What I know for sure is this: this rivalry has finally gotten back to being what it should be, heated. Personally, I disagree with many of your thoughts on the officiating, it was not very good, but none of the bad or non-calls cost the 'Boys the game, there were just as many calls that went against the SKins as there were the 'Boys.

If Mr Hat wouldn't have put the spin on it that he has, I wouldn't have started posting here at all. But I'm glad he did, cuz it's been fun, thank you Mr Hat.

Time for us to move on the Eagles, see ya down the road 'Boys fans, good luck.

Like the two touchdowns called back for obvious penalties? You're an idiot, Fred Sanford.

Staubach, I'm just having a little fun with you guys. I realize that fans' perspective are always blurred by their loyalties. I was watching the game with a couple of fellow Redskin fans and we felt the majority of the calls and non-calls were going against us.
We didn't dispute the missed facemask penalty, however.

Fred, it is just the rivalry. It ruined our week. Take it as a positive that this historic rivalry is alive and kicking.

For most here, losing to the Redskins is as bad for them as losing to the Steelers is for me. And vise versa I am sure.

I disagree with your ref's comments though. I have seen as many bad games called against us as good. I guess you could say its balanced. Anything else is bias, pro or con. But the one bad was against the Steelers in the Super Bowl. i still have a benign painful tumor left over from that one. It devastated my childhood lol

Let me put it too you this way. I hope we whip and humiliate you guys in Washington at our next meeting, but hope you guys destroy the Steelers when you play them. That will be the one time I will pull for the Skins

Did you clowns even watch the game? Or do you take that garbage spouted by the King Clown himself, thelandryhat, as gospel?
It's sad watching the fans of America's Team, the team that has benefitted from slanted refereeing more than any other over the years, try to blame this one on the refs.
Is it that unbelievable that your team lost a game? Even the Steel Curtain and the Cowboy dynasty of the Aikman-Smith era lost every once in a while.

The smegma is flying from the Foreskins Fans ;-)

I guess this shows the rivalry is not dead

Did the Skins just win the Super bowl? Sure seems like it. It's funny how skins fans are saying that they dominated the game. We are by far a better team then them and just because they beat us doesn't exactly make them better. Poor coaching and refs blowing calls is all that game was. Every now and then a team losses to a lesser team. It's crazy listining to some of these radio shows up here in D.C. these skins fans are on some great acid. You didn't dominate the game. You did overachieve. And we gave the skins thier super bowl of the year. The Boys GAVE this game to yall and we still almost won. 56-37-2 you guys are getting closer.

Learn how to work, kid! Your blog is pathetic, BlueCollar. How about you create some better content that'll draw some people THEN go stir up trouble on a blog that's already successful.

I love how RG is so quick to point out how we're wrong for blaming refs, but he lets his boys do it as much as they please. You had two touchdowns rightfully negated and a TD from a correctly called Rogers penalty. They did manage to miss the following calls for us:
1. This field goal (possibly, I want to see this FG from the camera that's mounted right on the crossbar).
2. A ridiculous facemask on Adam Jones right in front of a ref.
3. Holding on your LB's and secondary all game.
4. DeMarcus Ware's offside penalty was just ridiculously well-timed.
5. An obvious false start on your offense.

Now get me straight. I'm not blaming this loss on the ref. This loss is on us, and all facets of the Cowboys organization disappointed me. Our defense was weak and didn't get much pressure on Campbell. Our offense looked impotent. But the coaches frustrated me most, especially Jason Garrett. Giving Marion Barber eight touches, most of which coming on that dumb inside draw nonsense, and Felix Jones zero is weak. Having 12 men on the field after a time-out is unforgivable. But seeing the right calls made by the refs would have made the loss easier to stomach.

It's your system, it's open, and I only put in information the you were asking for.

And here, $**.00

We're even now.

Dear DorkCollar Redskins, whose " passions are simple, my wife and son, the Washington Redskins, the NFL, working on my house, and making people smile(I firmly believe in "The Golden Rule")," there were no Cowboys fans talking smack here. There were many Redskins fans talking smack here, led by the merry douchebag himself, Redskins Guy. Now stop advertising your site on my home for free, pal. You owe me.

Cowboys fans, don't you know that none of this would be near as much fun if we couldn't come on here and give it back to you. An awful lot of 'Boys fans were talking a lot of smack before the game, Barber was gonna run all over the Skins, 'Boys gonna blow out the Skins, TO gonna torch the Skins again like last year, now it's time to man up cuz NONE OF THAT HAPPENED.

And the field goal was good by the way.

Even from this horrible angle it is almost completely clear that the field goal was good. And how were the refs on our side? We had two touchdowns negated and you guys got an early touchdown from a bogus Rogers penalty

The jersey is circled and you can see the ball in the air, it's difficult to stop the video without special equipement right at the point the ball goes around the post, but if you watch the actual video, you can clearly see it was outside the goalpost.  Oh by the way, in order to beat the Cowboys, you had to be at your best, you had to have the refs on your side, and the Cowboys had to have one of our worst days.  Congratulations!

/facepalm

You sir are a idiot.

Oh my God. They're right.  You circled someone's jersey dude.  Check out the JPG Capital Punishment posted.
You state this as conclusive evidence and YOU'RE NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THE FOOTBALL!!!
Idiot.

This blog has provided me immense pleasure of late, from the cries of conspiracy to the site owner blaming the loss on Sam Hurd. But nothing gave me a bigger laugh than seeing a Redskin jersey circled while the real football is sailing through the uprights.

After all this...you can't even find the football...

No wonder you thought it went wide...

The ball is actually a half an inch higher and a little to the left...

Nice work though.
Not really.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that TheAssHat is suffering from penile dementia. He's spent so much time with his hands in his crotch that he's gone blind.

In the screenshot you posted - the football had already gone through the uprights.

Gotta love all those skins fans that come out of the woodwork after one win. Let's just see how y'all do when you have back-to-back big games. You're all pathetic.

Two bogus calls in the red zone, capital punishment? An obvious hold against Jay Ratliff who would have blown that run up from the start and an illegal man downfield against Rabach when he's obviously four yards downfield? You should get the gas chamber for that one. You're a perfect example of how little Redskins fans know about the game. I remember watching my first football game too capital punishment. I just didn't go on blogs and talk smack about it.

You idiot, that isn't even the football.

http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/6766/2kick217qs3.jpg

And it does look like you circled Redskins' jersey, not the football.

You sir, are an idiot. To think one has a better angle to determine where the ball is as it passes the imaginary lines involved(the upright and the cross bar) from an aerial shot from BEHIND the goal posts and centered between the cross bars than one standing directly under the upright, exactly at the cross bar, is absolute idiocy. The simplest form of physics completely disregards this argument, the 2 dimensional view provided by the camera alone is enough to discount your argument. It is IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCURATELY GAGE WHERE THE BALL IS AS IT PASSES THESE TWO IMAGINARY PLANES from the angle being used as “proof”.  If you back up the video about 1 second, and then circle the actual ball, it appears INSIDE the upright.
You shouldn’t let being a fan dictate your eyesight so much. Sad, very sad.

AHAHAHAHA the desperation is palpable, get over it losers.  With TO's latest outburst it's only a matter of time before Dallas is the cellar-dweller in the NFC East.  Washington has risen to the occasion while Dallas is going NOWHERE. That's what you get for being overhyped, pompus, showboating, douchebags.  Ask the Patriots what being paper champions means.  Losers.  That picture proves nothing, that ball is pretty obviously behind the goalposts at that point.  Keep grasping at straws though, if you REALLY want to get into this it's pretty easy to say that the TWO bogus calls in the red zone cost the Skins 4 points.  So you take our field goal we get those 4 points and still beat your dumb asses.

Even if that is the ball, how can you tell me conclusively that the ball didn't go through the field goal uprights and THEN hook out?

I think the single most convincing piece of evidence is that the Cowboys themselves aren't talking about this.  You're sitting there in your basement looking at two dimensional camera footage from a bad angle, while everyone who actually ATTENDED the game seems quite satisfied with the call.  Nobody challenged it.  Nobody mentioned it afterwords.

EVERY SINGLE TIME there's been a bad field goal called, there's always huge amounts of controversy after the game by the coach who lost.  We'd be seeing the cowboys doing what Norv Turner did in that Denver game.  We're not seeing that at all.  That you think you can see the shot better from your computer than the entire cowboys organization could is absurd.  They have better game tape than you do buddy.

You're right!  Woodward here did not even circle the ball, he circled a jersey!  We may have to put that pulitzer on hold after all.  What a joke.  Other than that though, top notch journalism.

You have circled a redskins jersey in your screenshot.  The actual ball is just above and to the right of Shawn Suisham in the picture.  Use a straight edge to extend the goal post, and you will see it was in.
Additionally, the 'Skins sat on the ball for the last 10 minutes of the 4th quarter.  I have difficulty believing they would have scored so little had they played the way they did the first 3 quarters.
Hail 'Skins.

Yes i am the idiot.  But I am not the one who cannot let this die.  NO ONE IN THE REAL MEDIA BROUGHT THIS UP.  YOUR FAT, IDIOT COACH DID NOT CHALLENGE THIS.  And I live and have always lived with 1,000 miles of my NFL team.  Get over yourself!

Sorry that should read:thelandryhat Says: "Whatever. You make no case. None. This is top-notch journalism right here. Top notch work. I found a significant error by these refs and I say it was retribution."
Yeah man you are the Woodward and Bernstein of Cowboys Blogs.  I bet your Pulitzer is in the mail.  Should they mail it to your current or former Dallas address?  Oh wait you have never lived in Dallas…  Pathetic
