Jimmy Johnson Has Details About Michael Irvin Scissor Attack?
Pro Football Talk has a post here that claims former Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson appears on Dan Patrick’s show to discuss the alleged scissors-to-the-neck incident from 1998 between Michael Irvin and Everett McIver.
There’s just one problem: Johnson wasn’t coach of the Cowboys in 1998. What can he add? If you don’t know the background, then you could read Jeff Pearlman’s new book Boys will be Boys.
Pearlman writes that Irvin was holding a pair of scissors that were used to slash the neck of McIver. The rumor is the Cowboys organization required players to remain quiet about the incident. Irvin’s never discussed it and he apparently came close to discussing it with Pearlman, but the issue was never broached.
I am waiting for my copy of the book, and it should have been here by now. Reviews show that it’s not a book that glorifies the Cowboys during their Super Bowl runs in the 90s. Wow, pretty weird. A knock at my door was the UPS man, and my hardcopy of the book is now in my hands. A review is forthcoming.

I heard some great reviews about the book, I’m gonna have to get me 1!
September 25th, 2008 at 7:42 pmI finished reading the book last week and it isn’t as bad or as anti-Cowboys as some of the media reviews would have you believe. I thought it was actually very good.
