Felix Jones: Rookie Of The Year?

By Carden Hedelt aka MBIIIEffect

Although we’re only three weeks into this young season, there have been a few rookies that have shown their talents already. But even fewer have had as big an impact in games as Cowboys’ rookie running back Felix Jones. Some Cowboys fans bemoaned passing up on former Illini Rashard Mendenhall. But let me pose a question to those fans: were you thinking of Mendenhall when Felix Jones broke off that 60-yarder last night? Didn’t think so.

That being said, I think that Felix Jones has to be counted among this year’s rookies that have shown their worth in this young season. Here’s my absurdly early Rookie of the Year ballot.
1. Matt Forte (73 carries, 304 yards, 1 TD; 13 rec, 105 yards, 1 TD)
2. Felix Jones (18 carries, 148 yards, 2 TD; 9 kick returns, 316 yards, 1 TD)
3. Johnathan Stewart (31 carries, 145 yards, 3 TD)
4. Eddie Royal (18 rec, 194 yards, 2 TD)
5. DeSean Jackson (17 rec, 256 yards)

I think that Felix would be number one if he got as many carries as Forte. The kid is a freak and was well worth the first-round pick.

If Felix keeps this up, he will take rookie of the year.

So does anyone know what Mendenhall did yesterday? (If he did anything) :D

I think Jonathan Stewart will be.... forte is good but with amateur hour at QB people will begin to stack the box on them more and more

He is unlikely to get it because he is not a full time player. That being said, what a great change up player! Find ways to get him out into the open! And speaking of that I am impressed at the receiving skills on Marion Barber. I am sure he was upset at the fumbles, but I doubt that will happen again

Can you get much better than our backfield??

We have lighting and thunder, and its storming all year baby!!!

Excellent work by Jerry Jones to pick up this kid Felix Jones.  As an Eagles fan I am partial to D-Jax but I would agree with your top 5 list.  I am not looking forward to playing against Jones for the next many years, thats for sure.
