Miles Austin Makes Case For Third Receiver Slot

Miles Austin’s two catches for 115 yards and a touchdown gives him a clear advantage to become the Dallas Cowboys third receiver. With Terrell Owens covered tightly all game, it was visible that Tony Romo looked confused. He threw an interception early when the Cowboys were in the red zone and he fumbled once. He also seemed to hold onto the ball too long. That’s until he found Miles Austin.

Sam Hurd, who is still reeling from a high-ankle sprain, will likely get his chance next week against the Washington Redskins to make any kind of impact on the game and sway coaches.

Coaches should give Hurd and Austin a few more games to battle it out. The competition will be good for them, and the team.

There will be games when T.O, Crayton, and sometimes Jason Witten will be shut down so its important to have depth that will step up and pick the slack. Its great to see Miles Austin have a monster game like that. Let’s not forget that catch and run Martellus bennett had also.

    Good point number_9

Its good to see Martellus showing us a couple flashes of talent the past couple games.  He looks quick in the open field out there.

Ive liked Miles Austin since last year. Sam Hurd could be a good WR too. Its just Miles Austin has speed something we are lacking. I think that Miles Austin could end up having the 2nd spot if he keeps up what he is doing this year. By the way I was so upset with Crayton so far do to him not doing anything so far but I was sure glad to see him be able to be a threat with throwing the ball to now.

That touchdown catch he made was especially impressive.

I thought so too. It looked like he perfectly waited for the ball to take its stride and he held back the corner back with his body strength and then he catapulted toward the ball for the catch making the corner look silly. Where was Patrick Crayton?

He is a big target! His problem has always been “toast” hands.  If he has lost those then we have another tall target. Great to see when we were worried about depth
