Dallas Cowboys Win 41-37 Over Eagles

by Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys won a nail biter against the Eagles in a night of big plays, penalties, Felix Jones explosions and big mistakes at the end.

All this week, I will review the game. We’ll look at how the Eagles scored 37 points on the defense. What exactly happened?

Wade Phillips said during his press conference that he didn’t think the defenses played poorly; the offenses just played that well. I disagree. Anytime two teams score 78 total points, that’s a defensive problem.

Felix Jones (255 kick off return yards) and Tony Romo get game balls from The Landry Hat.

I think the defensive line stepped it up in the second half, but all the hype about how good the Cowboys would be in the secondary is a joke.  Jenkins made one good play, the rest of the time, he was either no where to be found or you would see him standing by with the "watch until he catches, then move" approach.  Not aggressive at all unless he's within 2 feet of the ball.  I liked the defensive set up much better when they played the Browns.  They looked confused, but at least it looked like the secondary was on the planet.  If it wasn't for the defensive line and dropped passes by the Eagles, the Cowboys would not be smiling right now.   Jenkins batted away one ball and thought the game was over, I guess, because he sucked after that.  So did Williams, but he's out now.  Put Pacman at Safety and Scandrick at the other corner or the other way around, so that we have more quickness and at least aggressiveness out there.  The game balls should be given to the d-line that pushed way harder at the end of the game than anyone else and pressured McNabb.

Bluegalcc, I caught a few things about Emmitt that concerned me, but I didn't let it bother me.

Emmitt did seem angry at the Cowboys.  His temprement is not suited to being an analyst on Cowboy games.  He was a real downer last night.  Why he cannot see that "Leadership" comes in many different packages is a mystery.  We also have the very, very best play caller in either conference......just compare him with the clown that made the same play 3 times in a row for Brett the Jet or for that matter 90 % of the teams in either Conference over the weekend, Belichek is the only other one in our guys class....Go Cowboys, you have all the tools in place, now just relax, have a good time and win.

Guys,

Yes the defense was not great last night.  But they stepped it up in the second half and only allowed one TD.  If it werent for the fluke fumble and the worst pass interference call ive seen in a while it wouldnt have been that close a game.  The other thing was McNabb had a great game.  When the Boys had him he escaped and made plays.  My hats off to him for keeping his team close.  But in the end our Defense stepped up and shut them down in the second half...

OH YEAH I ALMOST FORGOT....f&*K THE EAGLES

hey fatboy-
in 2 games we have 21 penalties...when is this gonna stop?   the defense looked awful last night....thank god for tony romo...he is a true gamer

Not here to say the defense did some sort of great job or anything, but I say that the Cowboys' offense is responsible for 14 of the Eagles' points.

Could someone please teach the defense not to grab facemasks?  If the defense would just get more disciplined i.e. penalties, then I think that would be a great start to improve the defensive performance.

How bout DEM BOYS!!!

Again we proved to the world that the cowboys just have to much fire power!!! My hats off to the rookie, looking sharp. And how about that Romo!!! Yes i know the int and the botched fumble but no matter what happens to this guy he always seems to find a way to comeback, he did'nt give up and led us to a win.

Mcnabb had a nightware at the end!!

I wonder why Ian hasn't showed his face yet hahaha Great win by our boy but damn the we wont go anywhere if the D cant clamp down and hold. I agree this is a problem and we cant seem to stay healthy, now Roy Williams went down.....geez.

It was kinda cause of good offense I mean I dont think other teams will do the same to us. Think about it our offense has been a high scoring offense since most of last year because we have so many weapons. The eagles pick up a good receiver just too damn cocky. They also have westbrook a running back/receiver. Its hard to stop an offense of these type of weapons.

OMG, did we win yet? Talk about a tense game.  I still think that ref that was standing on the side lines when they called the interference on Henry should have been able to see the obvious. That was a momentum changing call there. I wish penalties could be reviewed, well sometimes :-) Awesome, awesome offense. Defense improved after Roy got hurt. We need a tackling coach for our defense. They should work on that at least 2 days a week specifically. Otherwise, way to pull it out Cowboys. Rock on!!!

I don't think Emmitt was being that way either. He wants to see his team win dude. He was being supportive of Owens.

Yeah, great game. Feels good to beat the Eagles.

Roy Williams broken forearm out for a month..... maybe our defense can improve now lmao

Thanks RG. At least we can enjoy that together. Feel free to beat the Eagles as well when you play them. :-) Man, this game gave me an upset stomach.

I don't think Emmitt meant to bring condensation. I just think you didn't comprehendalize his creativily use of vocabulariness.

Congrats on the win.  I can't say I enjoy a cowboys victory, but I do love to see the Eagles lose.

I would have hurled if we lost that game. Turnovers and NBA ref's changed the momentum early.

I am definitly concerned about our "D". Looking thin at safety now. Wish we did not release Evan Oglesby.

Otherwise, great game. I think our defense needs a lot of work after that game though. I'm surprise Emmitt didn't say we almost got "debacled.."

I officially don't like Emmitt Smith anymore. I loved him as a Cowboy, can't stand him as an "analyst." He pushed and primed T.O. to say "I want to win a playoff game," which is what T.O. should have said first and foremost. But it is sickening to me that Emmitt has seemed to have become infected with the "Hate T.O." or "Let's make a story out of T.O. comment or lack thereof.." crap that has become the norm for ESPN.

He, along with Steve Young, seemed to be speaking to T.O. in a condescending way, which frankly, I found deplorable. Listen, I know T.O. has issues, but why does ESPN thrive on making them headlines? And why must one of the most-beloved Cowboys of all time, Emmitt Smith, play into it?

Emmitt, after T.O. finally coughed up "our ultimate goal is to win a playoff game," shook T.O.'s hand and said "Go do that" or something like that. "That's what I want to hear." This made me sick. I just hate the way ESPN tries to hate on the Cowboys and they hate so enjoyably on T.O.

So I had to rant about it. Anyone see what I mean? I hate to see Emmitt resort to such ESPN-ness.
