Boy oh boy does Tony Romo really screw up sometimes. For those of you who missed the final episode of Hard Knocks last night, Romo got a little ahead of himself, the entire season, and anything the Cowboys have done since 1996 into one nicely formed quote.
“We can fast forward through this preseason, through the regular season, get to the playoffs and get to the Super Bowl or whatever and be there now. But so much of the fun and so much of the excitement is this whole process. I mean, it’s the old saying: The journey is the funnest part.”
Let me be the first to say that what Romo should do is REWIND, because the Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback, or anyone on that team, does not have the authority to make statements like that. Maybe I am misinterpreting it, and possibly so, but no one on this team should be talking Super Bowl before a game is even played. Leave that to us.
Believe it or not, I think it is telling that only three or four bloggers in the Fansided Network actually picked the Cowboys to win it all. People have seen enough of the playoff blunders. We fans vividly remember the Seahawks game. I am still not over the loss to the Giants last season, what I consider to be the worst loss I have ever witnessed in my 34 years as a fan.
So, step back, Tony. No need to put more pressure on the team or yourself. Because what we have seen for the last 12 years is no one has been able to handle that pressure very well.

I think you did just miss the point of the statement. It’s about the ‘Journey’, focus on the work that lies ahead not just the destination. The big picture in Romo’s words are between pre-season-regular season- playoffs and Super Bowl. They reflect on the work that must be done day in and day out. Not any more than that.
I’m with Dan on this (I can’t believe I just typed that). Even if the intent of Romo’s statement was to focus on the little things, he betrayed an attitude that would have me very troubled if I were a Cowboys fan. Overconfidence can kill you. Just look at what happened to the Patriots last year.
No team should just assume they’re going to make the superbowl and win it all. Even Belechick never got that cocky (though he got close). Winning the games and making it to the superbowl isn’t just something you can just fast forward past. It’s not something you should even *think* about fast forwarding past. All the winning teams always do the same thing: Take one week at a time. You look ahead like this and you’re done for.
And *that* is why you’ll fail.
I don’t see how any more pressure can be added to this team, even with dumb comments. Either they win and win now, or some heads are gonna roll…and they all know it
NOT a big deal.
