Second Cowboy Goes Under The Knife

As Iron Man reported first, Anthony Spencer did get knee surgery to remove a bone chip in his right knee. The promising young linebacker could miss the first two games of the season.

Last week, Kevin Burnett had a similar procedure. We are already aware that Terence Newman is not 100 percent, either.

All of this should be alarming if we measure the play of the backups in these first two pre season games, which has been downright awful. I’m not going to scream the sky is falling, and I am not even really that worried, because the Cowboys are stocked with good linebackers and the defense is stronger than the offense in my opinion.

But we really do have to pray that the injuries are limited this year because I do not have a ton of faith in the second team players. Do you?

ya we're fine at OLB b/c the majority of the snaps were gonna belong to ellis anyways, although spencer was gonna push for more playing time...newman will be back by the last preseason game and burnett will be back by the start of the season...so we're fine

Only at WR and QB. I think we're deep enough everywhere else.

No.  Our backups SUCK !  For some reason though, I just feel confident that nothing can take down this season.  The guys that we just absolutely need seem invincible.  I see the only upset of the season would be similar to the Patriots last year... making it to the Superbowl, but losing.  Hopefully that will not happen though....
In other news, Gene Upshaw passed away last night from pancreatic cancer that was only diagnosed 3 days previously.
