Terrell Owens Says Two Cornerbacks Shine

Terrell Owens has a Q&A at the Dallas Cowboys main Web site you can find here.

Unfortunately, the questions are a bit weak, but there are some interesting parts I wanted to show here.

Which defensive backs have impressed you?

Owens: Well, obviously the ones we drafted. [Mike] Jenkins looks good and the guy really standing out is Evan Oglesby. He’s been making plays throughout camp. It just shows you the film-work he has put in – obviously not playing a lot (last year), but really learning from the other guys. When guys aren’t on the field due to injuries, those are the opportunities he’s taken advantage of. For me, he shows up on the film.

Evan Oglesby has apparently made strides this year. He has impressed a few people watching the camps this year. That’s terrific news for the Cowboys.

What have you seen out of Danny Amendola?

Owens: He reminds me of (Wes Welker) over in New England. He’s short, quick feet, gets in and out of breaks real fast like a waterbug. He’s shown that he can stretch the field and can obviously make some plays. It’s all about who makes the most plays during these training camp days, so he’s definitely shown that he can play at this level.

Several football gurus have already compared Danny Amendola to Wes Welker. But one issue will be how many wide receivers the Cowboys end up keeping. If anyone is going to get dropped, I think it should be Isaiah Stanback, who remains quiet in practices this year. I believe Amendola is a player the Cowboys need to hold onto and see if the kid is truly the next Wes Walker.

Hard Knocks in 4 days, San Diego in seven. Damn time!

Good point Mike. THERE NEEDS TO BE 6 ROSTER SPOTS FOR WR'S!!!!! OR AMENDOLA AND STANBACK WILL END UP LIKE MOORE!!!!! We need WR's, so cutting them loose is not the answer. I thought Matt showed some spark too Mike, and you are certainly right. If they are not on the roster, they will run off somewhere where they can play. Get 'em ready for special teams if they think they aren't ready. Amendola would make an alright return man I am sure. He's got the moves right? T.O. said so.

STEVE SMITH LOVES PUNCHING HIS OWN TEAMMATES!!!!!!!!!!

Just a day after the talk about Steve Smith being an elite receiver and so on, he proves to everyone he can be an ELITE ASSHOLE whos so caught up in himself he feels the need to punch his own teammate (Panthers CB Lucas) in the eye with his helmet off.
HAHAHAHAHAH I love it, He has no regard for his teammates and how his actions could affect the team. Check it out on NFL.com and if you read the article you'll see that this isn't the first time he's done this (on his own team) and will most likely have to go through anger management counseling AGAIN.....

TLH,
I agree, we have to see what this kid has, I saw one report that Wade Phillips said the kid had a talent very few have, and that is when he makes a cut he doesn't have to slow down.  I loved what TO said, "he can stretch the field".  I say we go with six, and i agree with you 'Roller, we may need this kid come playoff time, plus Glenn is gone.  One thing is certain, Danny will not make it to the practice squad, someone will grab him, we cannot have another loss like we did with the QB going to the pussycats in Carolina.   This kid is going to be special, I know he was undrafted, but he just has IT.

I think we should keep 6 WR's. Amendola is intriguiging to me, and I think Stanback is worth keeping on board as well. I hope we keep these 6: Owens, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, Amendola, Stanback (preference is in that order). That one catch last week by Amendola sold me on him.

Nevermind, here's the scoop on Hard Knocks. That time is Central Time also. Just so you guys know. I know I am only one in a few here that actually live in the same time zone as the 'Boys.

Quincy Carter is given a tryout at Dolphins camp, and looks like there were a couple of "lights out" hits at camp for the 'Boys yesterday. Puttin' on quite a show in Oxnard it appears. Isn't next Wednesday the first Cowboys Hard Knocks on HBO? Or is that KC still?

Have you guys heard about Parcells trying to bring in Quincy Carter. BwaaaHaaaHaaa!!!!  Ass Clown Quincy Carter back in the NFL, and on the same team as Ricky Williams. Yea. That'll last.

I disagree. People were saying the same thing about Sam Hurd last year. That he sucks, and he should be dumped. I think Stanback has potential and given that he came in injured and didn't have much of a first year at all, he should be given the same opportunities Sam Hurd and Miles Austin were given at the very least. With the shortage of WR's now and TG  gone, if they cut more WR's, we could be in the same situation at WR that we were at with the CB's last year. #5, or #6 WR yea, but by playoff time, you guys might have a different opinion of him, or I may, but he still should have that 6th roster spot if there is one.

Terrell Owens, Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, Miles Austin, Danny Amendola, Isaiah Stanback

That is, IF there is a 6th roster spot for WR's this year. If not, let Danny and Isaiah battle it out in the pre-season for that 5th roster spot. Send the other that would have had the 6th roster spot to the practice squad.
I am glad to hear about E.O. The more DB's that can actually play- the better. The next question is, Will Adam Jones be reinstated? Fully reinstated? Looks like people are just taking it as if he will be, but I still question it. We need him in Cleveland. Especially if Newman is still not 100% , or we will be seeing the rookie Jenkins taking on some serious play time from the jump. I know he is good, but I wouldn't like to see that. Not that soon.

dump  Stanback - he was J Irelands project - let him go to Maimi he will never be more than a bench warmer
