Why Is Shawn Springs So Worried About Terrell Owens Already?

I got a report from a very reliable source who is at the Washington Redskins training camp in Virginia who overheard Washington Redskins safety corner Shawn Springs talking to new head coach Jim Zorn. Although the EXACT wording may be off a bit, this is basically what Springs said:

“T.O. is legendary. He is one of the few I can’t make up ground against.”

Well, isn’t this an incredible tid-bit of information for various reasons. Let’s go through a few of them:

1. Why the hell is any Redskins talking about the Dallas Cowboys in training camp, before the season has even started? If that’s not showing fright, I don’t know what is.

2. If I were Zorn, I would have slapped Springs in the face and said “Don’t you ever admit defeat. If you can’t gain ground, you find a way to do it.” Expect the Redskins to go 5-11 this year.

3. Is Springs out of his mind? He freely admits how awesome Owens is?

4. At least Springs is honest. We know the Redskins ownership is as dirty as sewer water.

5. Shawn Springs is not the only Redskin fearing the Cowboys. In fact, he’s not on the only team fearing the Cowboys.

So, folks, get your popcorn ready. And Terrell, you are legendary!

Has he been talking to Roy Williams? We know TO is good, Now lets hope guys like Hurd, Bradford or Stanback bring the same fear!

    Redskins Guy Says:

Shawn Springs is still a cornerback. If you can’t even get that accurate, how much can we trust this mysterious source of yours?

    Redskins Guy Says:

Oh, and gee.  Springs at the tail end of his career is admitting that TO is one of the best wideouts in the league? Alert the media! Stop the presses!

Other revelations overheard by Landry’s “Source”:
    1. Jason Taylor was apparently on some sort of television show about dancing.
    2. Fred Smoot likes to talk trash.

    3. There’s these fans? They dress up in dresses! And they wear pig snouts! No, really!

    4. A lot of the Redskins players thought that Sean Taylor’s death was, like, really sad and stuff.

    5. Despite reports to the contrary, Redskins players do not actually wear Maroon and Black.

Of Course, RG, you completely miss the point, as usual. Re-read the post and please, comment on the content, not your own delusional flap.

    Redskins Guy Says:

I understand your point Dan, I just don’t choose to follow your flawed logic.

    Let’s take a closer look…

“1. Why the hell is any Redskins talking about the Dallas Cowboys in training camp, before the season has even started? If that’s not showing fright, I don’t know what is.”

Even if we assume the quote is accurate, we don’t have any context for the quote.  Perhaps the coaches were asking him his opinion of the wideouts in the league.  Perhaps someone else brought up the subject of TO.  Perhaps they were game planning for a future game against the cowboys.  Perhaps someone got a call from TO on their cellphone.  Perhaps your source is full of shit.

    2. If I were Zorn, I would have slapped Springs in the face and said “Don’t you ever admit defeat. If you can’t gain ground, you find a way to do it.” Expect the Redskins to go 5-11 this year.

Again, with no context, this is pure fabrication. For all we know, Coach Zee asked him for an assessment of wideouts in the game.

Furthermore, he didn’t admit defeat, he said he couldn’t make up ground against him.  The obvious solution is to make sure you’re never in a position where you need to make up ground.  What’s stupid is claiming that you’re faster than someone when you’re not.  If you’re slower you need to adjust accordingly.

    3. Is Springs out of his mind? He freely admits how awesome Owens is?

What the hell is wrong with giving your coach an accurate assessment of a rival player? For that matter, what the hell is wrong with giving props to someone who’s good?  I bet after the Patriots beat Dallas, I could have dug up a bunch of quotes of Cowboys cornerbacks talking about how great Moss and Welker are.  Does that mean they admitted defeat if they had ever faced the pats in the superbowl? You make NO sense.

    4. At least Springs is honest. We know the Redskins ownership is as dirty as sewer water.

This is just a cheap shot. And not a terribly clever one at that.  How exactly are the Redskins owners dirty?  What does this have to do with anything?

    5. Shawn Springs is not the only Redskin fearing the Cowboys. In fact, he’s not on the only team fearing the Cowboys.

There’s a difference between fear and respect.  I understand that you have no respect for anyone outside of the cowboys organization, so this is a foreign concept to you, but you should try it sometime.

So really, the only thing we DO know is that without proper context, your conclusions are bunk.  Your assertions are flawed and illogical and sometimes simply irrelevant.

Shawn Springs gave high praise to TO and you try to spin it into bad Redskins press.  If he had dissed TO or bragged that he could outrun him, you would have been bitching up a storm about it.  Face it, you’d skew whatever he had to say on TO against him, and his comments were clearly not meant to be on the record at any rate.

Really, don’t you have anything better to do with your time?

Terry Glenn HAS been released. It’s all over dallascowboys.com  It could be possible that he comes back but who knows now.

    Staubach Says:

Wonder if the Tuna will sign him just to spite us thinking he can keep him at arms length as a backup option if no young guys perform well.

    Redskins Guy Says:

Dollars to donuts he’ll be in Miami within the week.

lmfao he’s right Miami within the week
