Adam Jones Wants To Party Like Its 1999

You don’t think Adam Jones has turned a new leaf? His first test came Monday when the racist radio jock Imus took a shot at the cornerback during his radio show. We’ve already heard the story here, but it was Adam’s response that shook the NFL world.

He will pray for Imus. God Bless His Soul. It doesn’t matter the guy is going to hell anyway. But Adam Jones is already showing that he’s not going to be ruffled by idiots.

So we present to you “The Cornerback Formerly Known As PacMan.”

So, why the name change? He tells the Associated Press that:

There’s really just a lot of negativity behind it,” Jones said. “It’s just time for a change, man. I’m doing everything to make sure that I’m all right as a person, mentally and emotionally.”

Name changing has mixed success for sports stars.

Remember when former Cleveland Indians slugger Albert Belle was actually Joey Belle? His therapist suggested Belle change his name to start fresh and put his anger problems behind him. It didn’t work too well for him.

On the other hand, Cassius Marcellus Clay had great success when the world’s greatest boxer changed his name to Muhammad Ali.

The true test is really going to be how Adam Jones handles himself under pressure. He will be judged by how he responds to adversity. His first test was Monday, and he passed with flying colors.
