Cowboy-hat wearing radio jock Don Imus is back in the hot seat after what may be insensitive–wait, they are insensitive–remarks about Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones. For those unaware of the scandal brewing, here is a recap:
While on the air Monday, Imus asked sports announcer Warner Wolf the skin color of Adam Jones during a conversation about his arrest record. “
Warner said “African-American.”
Imus responded: “There you go. Now we know.”
Now, this is the same radio jock who called the Rutgers women’s basketball team “nappy-headed hos.” Yeah. Classy. Couldn’t he have just said hos? Facing criticism, Imus backpedaled just like he did with the Rutger’s comment:
“I meant that he was being picked on because he’s black,” Imus said in a statement released by his spokesman.
If that is what Imus meant, then why didn’t he follow it up with that comment. Better yet, why didn’t Imus just say that? The Landry Hat does not tolerate racial insensitivity. We are an equal opportunity blogger. But I will let you decide on Imus with a poll. Go at it:
