Chris Canty finally signed his $2 million tender with the Dallas Cowboys. But he hasn’t missed a practice and his good attitude hopefully will be rewarded with some playing time and success at defensive end.
Canty may have gotten a long-term deal if there weren’t so many high-profile players that needed a lock first. However, if he plays even better this coming season, I think it is safe to say he’ll find himself with that contract. Just keep in mind that DeMarcus Ware is the biggest name in 2009 who will be looking for a long-term deal. And he won’t come cheap.
In fact, Ware could become the highest-paid player in the NFL. Safety Ken Hamlin, who might be a bit irritated because he is an odd man out, too, right now, will have to be dealt something in 2009 as well.
