Terrell Owens can now rest assured he will be a Dallas Cowboy for the rest of his career. In a move no one quite expected now, the Cowboys signed Owens for three more years up to 2011.
According to ESPN, Owens was to make $7 million this season in the final season of his contract. He signed a 4-year, $34 million deal. He is slated to get $27 million over the next three seasons, making him one of richest wide receivers in the NFL. He gets a $12.9 million signing bonus plus $100,000 for $13 million total guaranteed.
Holy cow! Where the heck did this come from? Obviously, the goal here is at least one Super Bowl win, and hopefully more. Terrell Owens, when healthy, is a serious offensive threat. This is great news for the Cowboy, and believe it or not, Owens is someone you want in the locker room now. As a Cowboys, he has proven to be a leader on offense. He doesn’t want to lose and he’ll do what it takes to win.
