Big Contracts For Even Bigger Players
The Dallas Cowboys gave longterm contracts today to two of the most important players on this young football team.
Both Marion Barber and Terence Newman are Cowboys for a long, long time.
Newman gets a six-year, $50.2 million contract. Barber signed a seven-year, $45 million contract that includes $16 million guaranteed.
The Cowboys coaches expressed concern this week about Barber’s absence from work outs with the team. That hopefully will end now that he has a new contract. Newman hasn’t made much noise, but his new contract proves that he is a key figure to the success of this team.
I think this is news to celebrate, so let’s get it on!
{KUDOS to NUMBER_9 for making this the first Dallas Cowboys blog to have the breaking news about Barber and Newman!}

Landry we got do to some Irish Car bombs, you too Octopus…I happen to stumble upon it at the right time I suppose…Lucky me!!
May 20th, 2008 at 2:31 pmLandry Hat wins again! This blog rocks! Tell your friends about it — it consistently breaks Cowboys news. I wonder if the author lives in Dallas and knows all the players. Sure seems like it.

May 20th, 2008 at 7:25 pmhaha david. Im sure TDCowboys will be throwing in his two cents as soon as he becomes concious again after fainting from this news. He gets to watch his man-crush run around for seven more years in a dallas uniform.
May 20th, 2008 at 7:45 pmHey TheLandryHat, which blog is best for me to vent on concerning Irvin’s “Look At Me!” personality.
May 20th, 2008 at 7:49 pmYEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS My man crush will continue and i dont care who knows it. Sorry felas i found out about the deal early today I forgot to come and blog about it please forgive me.
May 20th, 2008 at 10:18 pmTD,
I gotta love you bro. I just hope Barber keeps playing like the stud we have seen…
May 21st, 2008 at 6:46 amTo tell you the truth i dont even care if Barber becomes an elite back, I mean yea it be nice but I just like the excitment and hope he brings when he steps on the field and bashes opponents to the ground and then gets up and does the barbarian war dance. It just gets everyone in the game, So if he is only this good in a two back system then so be it, let The Barbarian pound it in the red zone and let Felix Fly between the twentys.
May 21st, 2008 at 9:54 amI truly believe that we are witnessing the rebuilding of a dynasty. I gotta say that Jerry Jones has made some good moves. Some of them have been questioned by many, myself included (draft). But with the draft and the signings it is looking more and more like we are headed for the dynasty that all of us have longed so desperately for. Still, I just wanna see a playoff win.
May 21st, 2008 at 12:02 pmgphizzle you are hardly close to a dynasty. You have 1-2 years max before you completely fall out of contention because of all your old players in key positions.
May 21st, 2008 at 6:30 pmwestcoastskins u guys r hardly even a team…I’m sure u r satisfied with the fact that u guys came in 3rd in the division last yr…so for u guys that was an accomplishment not coming in last…so don’t be jealous b/c of the fact that u guys r inferior
May 21st, 2008 at 8:04 pmLove4, I like how you slam people without ever addressing the concern he brought up. As for accomplishments, I guess you guys are proud of all those playoff victories you’ve had recently. I mean, a dynasty has to have some playoff wins, right? A dynasty is a team that goes all the way so one measly playoff victory shouled be nothing, right? Right???
May 21st, 2008 at 10:21 pmREDSKINS GUY Hence the fact that gphizzle said rebuilding of a dynasty. Then you rag on Love4thestar on slaming people and then you come back with the oldest and only comebackyou skins have refrencing to our playoff wins. Yes we are aware of this thanks for reminding us. AND WESTCOAST skins you f all people shouldnt come at dallas fans about age esecially since age int a huge factor just ask T.O or Randy Moss.
May 22nd, 2008 at 2:01 amIt’s funny how all you Deadskins fan talk smack but a real skins fan will fess up and admit that this coming season wont be a good one.
May 22nd, 2008 at 6:02 amTD I know deep down you are very concerned by the age of your team. Its okay to admit. We too have an ancient O-line and make it a point that we need youth behind them. However Dallas fans think your skill position players are gonna last forever. Most of your secondary is 30 years or older and you have no proven backups. Yes you have Pacman now but who knows what is going to happen with him this year.
May 22nd, 2008 at 6:21 amOk Westcoast,
So other than Flo Adams 33, T.O. 34 and Henry 31 all of our main key players are under 30. A good lineman can play well into his mid to late 30’s. We have solid backups behind Henry so no problem there. And T.O. will play at a higher level over the next 3 years than any of the project players you drafted at WR. So when you say most of our secondary is over 30 research your facts. I find it humerous that you skins fans come in here for a little ribbing myself but at least be real when you come in with facts and dont just hate like some of your moron skin bloggers…And im pretty sure last year they said we were on of the youngest teams in the NFC behind the Packers.
May 22nd, 2008 at 7:24 amits funny david cause if they took a minute and pulled their heads out their asses they would realize those facts u just mentioned…at least their not philly fans…I can keep my cool amongst skins and giants fans…not philly fans tho lol
May 22nd, 2008 at 8:20 amI am with you 4Dastar, they can be a pain in the arse, but they are not evil like philly fans. It’s just good old fashioned rivalry hate, but I have only seen Philly fans get a climax over an opponents injury. The rest of the East at least gives a guy a respectful applause
May 22nd, 2008 at 3:07 pmAlthough I have seen a few Redskins blogs that are pretty evil. Most Dallas blogs talk about Dallas. I notice that other East teams blogs spend a lot of time focusing on Dallas. Hmmmm…
May 22nd, 2008 at 3:13 pmHold on Staubach. I don’t know if you were here last season, but Dan posted PLENTY of Redskins hating posts that had nothing to do with Dallas. If you really want, I’ll point out the links but you might want to go through the archives before you start claiming that your Cowboys blog is pure and perfect and never throws mud.
May 22nd, 2008 at 4:49 pmas long as it isn’t poo
May 22nd, 2008 at 5:08 pmAslo RG, our military mud is only used in self defense.
The nukes are in the hanger…
May 22nd, 2008 at 5:20 pmUh huh. Except that the Landry Hat seems to believe that the best defense is a good offense. Of course, now that I say that I feel like we’re in 2nd grade. Dan started it! Moooom!
May 22nd, 2008 at 8:19 pmIts all in good fun… Without the total loathing of our opponents what fun would it be after a victory? Makes the wins all the sweeter
May 22nd, 2008 at 9:17 pmIndeed. A highlight of my season last year was beating Landry in a bet and watching him have to post an apology letter on this site. That was awesome.
