Cris Carter Says Cowboys Have Character Problems?
First off, I want to say that I have no problem with any person saying the Dallas Cowboys are overrated, which is what Carter said. But Carter’s reasoning is completely mind boggling and certainly a double standard.
“I think the Cowboys have a huge problem, and that is with character in the locker room,” Carter said.
This comes from the guy who was canned by the Eagles for drug and alcohol abuse.
Of course, Carter was able to resurrect his career. He’s a perfect example of a player beating adversity and turning a new leaf. He is a prime example of a player who was able to turn the corner. So, it’s completely bizarre that he decided to label the Cowboys as overrated just because they hired Adam “Pacman” Jones and Terrell Owens, who quite honestly hasn’t caused any disturbances in the Big D (media sensationalism of his accidental overdose does not count, sorry).
For some reason, Pacman can’t change? For some reason, only Cris Carter can overcome adversity.
I don’t know what was more dumb: Carter saying the Cowboys are overrated or Carter saying Zach Thomas will be the glue of the team. Yeah, he said that, too.

Carter is just grumpy that he’s not in the Hall of Fame yet.
May 12th, 2008 at 8:04 pmBtw, I am yet again first to post on your blog Dan. Nyah nyah!
May 12th, 2008 at 8:04 pmSurprise..Surprise..Chris Carter..noted Cowboy hater..has some more negative comments..Wake me up when he has something good to say…
May 12th, 2008 at 10:31 pmI could see us being overrated because we had 13 wins and 13 pro bowlers and we couldnt get it done when it mattered most, that I have no problems with. But for him to say were overrated because of character is retarded.
May 13th, 2008 at 7:48 amCarter is going to be the perfect fit at ESPN. They’ve become the news, rather than report the news. Really though, he’s doing what most sports journalists and bloggers do. He’s stating an opinion. One I don’t agree with though.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:24 amAnother dumb reason he gave was because of the playoff loss in Seattle TWO years ago. I mean, come on, how long are these guys gonna harp on that game and not recognize the great progress that was made last year. We won several more games and stepped our offense to one of the league’s best. Add to that a good draft recently, and we are a team that has few weaknesses. Yet, Carter wants to refer back to a game that was lost on a single mistake by Romo and imply that this is still the same team? Come on, Carter, give the Cowboys some props. They have grown a lot since the Seattle loss two years ago.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:41 amgphizzle, you have become a great member of this blog. I forgot about that remark and thanks for reminding me. I just wanted to punch his face when he was talking. He came off as a complete idiot.
May 13th, 2008 at 11:07 amLove all these "unbiased" guys working in the media. Just what Howard Cosell warned about - Jockocracy!
May 13th, 2008 at 2:00 pmLandryHat, thanks, man. I appreciate it! I humbly admit that I spoke in ignorance in my first couple of posts concerning the LandryHat. I check the site several times a day now and I am pleased with your content. Keep up the good work, and I’ll try to contribute when I can (hopefully something meaningful!)
May 13th, 2008 at 2:34 pmI love how Cowboys fans think that Dallas’s 10 straight wins over Washington that took place last decade is relevant and yet they dismiss a playoff event that took place 16 months ago with many of the actual players they still have. I’m just sayin.
May 13th, 2008 at 2:58 pmYou’re just saying you’re gay? What?
May 13th, 2008 at 3:06 pmTulip….just shut up. I realize the pain it causes for Deadskins fans to hear discussion on a Cowboys site about the incredible winning streak the Cowboys had against the Deadskins. But you coming here to whine is super gay. You expect to get sympathy here, super gay?
May 13th, 2008 at 3:12 pmI don’t expect sympathy. I’m just pointing out the hypocracy Cowboys fans can have. A record set during the Norv Turner era of the Redskins is relevant but the Cowboys-Seahawks playoff game isn’t?
May 13th, 2008 at 8:35 pmredskins guy, yes you’re right cuz Redskins suck!!
May 14th, 2008 at 6:32 ammaybe chris carter was a customer of troy hambrick only reason i can see where he came up with this logic for his argument
