Sorry, Chris Henry, We’ve Got Our Guy

Troubled wide receiver Chris Henry apparently has his eyes set on two teams: The Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints.

This news has spread around for the last couple of days, and I tried hard to ignore it. But I shouldn’t. In my opinion, Henry is not an upgrade from Patrick Crayton. The biggest difference is Crayton has a clean criminal record–and that is a big difference the two players have right now.

The Cowboys have brought in Adam “Pacman” Jones for his second chance. There’s no reason the Cowboys have to be the halfway house for all criminally charged NFL players. Chris Henry ought to spend his energy in trying to get a spot on the Saints roster. We don’t need him.

I know one can argue he’ll come cheaply, but enough is enough.

If there is one player that should never be allowed to be a cowboy is this guy. whodatdish.com has a good mug shot of him. he looks like the devil hahaha

I gotta totally disagree with you guys. We need depth if he comes cheaply why not? Heres  question when a troubled player goes to another team how does it usually work out…..Id have to say pretty damn good

Man, we should steer clear of this guy. He is nothing but trouble. I think we have to draw a line somewhere. I agree, LandryHat. Chris Henry is a bad guy. We shouldn’t mess with him. I mean, come on, even the Bengals cut him!

The minute this guys signs with a team he will get suspended and it will probably be a year if not longer. He wont be able to help this year anyway. There shouldnt be no question that the cowboys should not even look at him.

98% of these guys are NOT roll models. Even the ones you think are, probably aren’t. Hell look at Roger Clemens 2 months ago and today. My point is don’t let your kids look up to any of them. But if a guy genuinely wants to straighten up and fly right and he can help my boys win I say come on in. Henry could help, he’s good enough, but I don’t think he’s ready to, but then again NONE of us really know him so ill trust Jerry’s decision. Not the Goodell is going to let him play anywhere though so this whole blog is a mute point,.. like most.

I don’t know - Owens, Tank Johnson, Pacman - that’s already enough potential problem children. I’d have to say no to Henry. Chad Johnson just runs his mouth, at least he isn’t getting arrested. I think he’d be the better option if the Cowboys could acquire him.

I agree, we do not need any more problems than we already have. I just hope the ones we have act better this year. I want to see the Cowboys in the Super Bowl, not Cops.I am concerned that the show will be a big distraction and could get a Terrell Owens or Pacman Jones upset and cause locker room dissension. I hope I am wrong!http://myteamrivals.typepad.com/cowboyscorner/

Everyone keeps saying we dont need anymore problems? What problems? What disturbances? You guys act like Chris Henry is worse than PAC Man…NEWS FLASH HE’S NOT, hes just the new story. Please dont get confused fellas cuse hes definitly messed up but we cant draw a line all of a sudden after the guys wev picked up. Im all for giving him a chance.

Yall have a knack for bringing in some player with bad backgrounds. I would not be surprised to see youy bring him in. He is proven for the most part and lets face it, TO and Glenn ain’t gonna last forever.

Henry is 6′4" and runs a 4.40 forty.  In three seasons (not full seasons because of suspensions obviously) he has 88 receptions and 17 touchdowns.  That is a TD for just a little over ever 5 receptions.  In my opinion he is a lot better than Crayton.  That is the only part of this post I disagree with.  It is obvious that if he is not suspended to start the season, even if he doesn’t do anything else in the future, that he would be suspended for something in the future.  Just like the REAL legal system, the NFL will crack down the more you mess up.  You can do the same thing that you get a warning for when it was your first time, but if you do it 10 more times and you’re a habitual affender the suspensions will come easier and be longer.  Pacman’s problems were probably more serious, but almost all of them were a result of running with the wrong croud and getting caught up with the GROUP.  That is still his decision and he was wrong, but I think its easier for him to turn it around in a different city than it would be for Chris Henry.  Henry’s legal problems were almost all INDIVIDUAL cases.  Here is a list of Henry’s run-ins with the law in order: 1. Speeding and marijuana possession 2. Aggravated assault with a firearm 3. Alleged sexual assault 4. DUI 5. DUI 6. NFL’s substance abuse policy 7. Supplying alcohol to minors 8. Violating NFL’s personal conduct policy 9. Failed court drug test for opiates 10. Assault 11. Assault 12. Undisclosed violation of probation 13. Assault (and has since been placed on house arrest because he was ALREADY on probation when he committed the latest assault) … All but 4 of these he was acquited of the charges for basically technicalities.  That just means he has a GREAT lawyer.  But, now you see the difference between his crimes and Pacman’s…….

I say leave Henry behind and bring his lawyer to Dallas !

    TDCowbys Says:

say what yall want but u know if he came to dallas hes got a better shot at helping us than hurting us.And maybe maybe henry can sub contract his laywer to rest of our players.

i have to say this. i don’t like players that blow there career away with stupid mistakes, but lets look a little farther into this situation then the surface. the surface of this tangle is that henry is a bad egg????? ok, why over the last year have so many players from cinncinati been caught at something????? is there something in cinncy’s water supply that is making these players go ape shit????? no!!!!! it’s cinncy’s inabillity as a team to set down INFORCED team rules and guidelines and INFORCE them. i mean come on 14 players in the span of one year??????what the hell????? now lets look at thge success that dallas has had. we’ve had our problem children in the past too, but as i’ve heard is that jerry has spent the time, money, and manpower to not only protect his investments, but help thse young men with good counciling, (professionals) and good advice from former players; etc…..emmitt, irvin, sanders, aikman, staubach, pearson, calvin hill……these guys have been personally asked by jerry to mentor at times. that means the world to some of these young players!!!!! they get the special attention they need, professional or otherwise. i ain’t heard shit about that stuff in cinncy????? could there be a connection?????damn right!!!!!! jerry’s a smart man, and if he invests money, he’ll see it thru. that’s what sets him apart. that’s why dallas is where they want to go.

  16. 16
    davedallasfan Says:

granted, jerry’s no saint or dallas some monestary for orphan children, but if a player has those "extra" things to his playing time, it brings out the proformance in him on the field, not off. i think jerry has learned that with dealing with these players over the years. he polices his investments, and by damn it, he gets it back out of them. adam jones will be ok, and i think if henry had the right supervision, he thrive too. one more question i have for the nasayers…….what do you think will happen to a "kid" with a million $ in his pocket and "no-one" to tell him what to do with it????? these guys need to be educated first, and that ain’t the nfl’s fault…..
