Cowboys Rookie Corners Shine In Drills

A story here brings some early excitement about rookies Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick. A read a few forums posts that stated Scandrick actually outperformed the first round pick, Jenkins, in the drills. It seems Scandrick is playing with a chip on his shoulder, which is fine with me.

Here’s an interesting snippet from the article:

“And if the tattoo on his right arm is accurate, he’s not afraid to work: “What doesn’t kill me only makes me better.”

I personally don’t care if Scandrick starts over Jenkins. We obviously need someone better than Jacques Reeves ever was, and it is very possible that both of these guys can do that. If such occurs, the Dallas Cowboys already are in a stronger position than they were last year.

Mickey Spagnola wants to answer my statement with his own opinion here:

Not sure how this will turn out, but these two guys already seem to be an upgrade over departed free agents Jacques Reeves (Houston) and Nate Jones (Miami). Plus, with their speed and athletic ability, the Cowboys just might have found two dangerous gunners on the punt coverage team. Not sure about you, but I’d rather defensive guys running down field to make tackles instead of a bunch of wide receivers

Your blog is reallyinteresting. I was searching for info about this and found your site. Thanks!

I did read they like the progress of Courtney Brown. But yeah, they are a bit thin.

Watkins can be moved to his natural position of FS and move Hamlin to SS. I know this is probably not the best choice but if roy cant get it together then what other choice do we have?

They both had top notch speed which cannot be taught. If Scandrick is the first off the bench, then that is cool. Jenkins will learn to use his speed properly. He was so fast he could get away with sloppy technique. But this can be coached, so we are in good shape. I am a little unsure about the safety situation. If Roy cannot make a comeback, who will replace him him during passing situations. Are they counting on Watkins?
