Dolphins, Parcells Continue Raid On Cowboys Roster

I woke up this morning to Staubach’s news alert and thought he was kidding. He wasn’t.

ESPN is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys traded linebacker Akin Ayodele and tight end Anthony Fasano to the Miami Dolphins for just a 4th round pick. I guess I should quit interviewing Cowboys because it seems like when I do, they get traded. I made a post not too long ago pointing out that Fasano was trade bait for the Cowboys and originally thought he was offered in the Pacman deal but later ruled it out because the Titans have two decent tight ends now.

Losing these two guys is not a punch to the Cowboys’ stomach. Ayodele never really performed and Fasano is a young, possibly effective starter, in the NFL. He will compete for the starting job in Miami. I am a bit surprised that both of these guys were only worth a fourth round pick to the Cowboys, however.

This 4th round pick means the Cowboys will get the 100th player in the NFL draft. As ESPN reports, Zach Thomas is likely to take Ayodele’s spot on the roster.
