Marcus Spears will be biting his nails this weekend. The former first round pick (20th) has not played up to expectations the Cowboys give to a first rounder. He could be traded this weekend. The Star-Telegram contemplates the scenario in this short article today.
The Cowboys may bring Jason Hatcher into the starting lineup. Hatcher was a third-round pick in 2006, from Grambling State. Better yet, the Cowboys could move Jay Ratliff to end and make Tank Johnson the nose tackle. Spears is certainly expendable. Hatcher, who rarely saw playing time, had 2 sacks, compared with Spears’ four sacks.
But Jerry Jones says no one on the roster will be traded.
“No. I can almost be, without equivocation, say that,” Jones said. “That’s not the time to be getting value out of a player. Poor timing. Draft picks are thought too highly of and players aren’t thought of as much as they should be thought of.”
