Deadline Day: Will Canty and Barber Get Contracts?
Restricted free agents Marion Barber and Chris Canty have until 3 p.m. to sign offer sheets with other teams before the Dallas Cowboys have full negotiating rights.
It would be highly unlikely either player leaves. For Barber, a team would have to give up a 1st and 3rd round picks. For Canty, they would have to give up a 1st-round pick. Dallas can outbid any bid for these players. According to the Dallas Morning News , basically Barber’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, is out of his mind and asking for way too much to keep Barber. The Cowboys might be closer with Canty.
According to sources, the Cowboys and Barber remain far apart in negotiations on a long-term deal. The team and Canty’s representatives have discussed an extension. Canty plans to sign the tender shortly after the deadline passes.

There is a deadline to sign RFAs to a long term deal, other than the normal deadline that comes around Thanksgiving?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:34 amCanty will probably sign his tender after the deadline but Im sure we wont have problems getting a deal done with him. Barber on the other hand thats a different story.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:57 amDear Marion Barber , There is no way in hell your worth that kind of money. First of all son your a running back and they dont have a long shelf life in this league. I love your running style but lets face it your not the fastest horse in the stable ethier . If you want that kind of money your name better be L.T or Larry Johnson period .
