The Worst NFL Announcer Calls It Quits; We Rejoice

The NFL Network must have read this post. Or maybe Bryant Gumbel did. It really doesn’t matter. The good news is that after two seasons of horrible play-by-play announcing, Gumbel finally listened to himself and realized he sucked.

The NFL Network is now looking for a new play-by-play guy to partner with Cris Collingsworth for the network’s Thursday and Sunday games.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to call NFL Network games the past two years, which was a new experience for me,” Gumbel said in a statement. “But we’ve agreed that we’d all be better served going in different directions.”

Gumbel was a complete twerp on the air. He had absolutely no idea how the game was played. How he was able to convince the NFL Network that he could hold his weight during a real game is beyond me. I’m just glad he is gone. I’ll never forget that Dallas Cowboys vs Green Bay game last year when he said “Marion Barber is the heartbeat of the Green Bay offense.”

I wanted to kill him.

Funny, Chuck. I love it when people find old posts of mine. This one still makes me chuckle!

You mean that Tony Kornheiser was finally relegated to something else...  Sorry, wrong program.  Bryant Gumless was horrible too!!!
