Cowboys Working On Pac Man Deal

Reports are hitting the Net that the Dallas Cowboys are working hard on a deal for Pac Man Jones, the troubled cornerback and human being out of Tennessee. I have no idea what or who rototimes is, but they have some of the scoop here.

That clip does source Calvin “I am right more than I am wrong” Watkins, a reporter out of Dallas. Well, if this happens, there will be a mixed bag of feelings expressed on this site. The guy has a laundry list of crimes and accusations. He acts like a thug, and there is no inclination that he will change his ways.

But then again, the Cowboys have a way with troubled players. Go ahead and spill your thoughts here tonight, and I will come here tomorrow with a more in-depth piece on this development.

Truth I belive your the only one that makes any since right now.

?????? not even going to say anything about this

I agree that Charles will be there at 61, but I started this whole thing because some fans wanted him in the 1st round.  I just don't see a cornerback around that will still be worth taking at 22 or 25.  Either way I think this is going to be one hell of a draft for the Cowboys, filled with early round talent.

Felix Jones is much better than Charles in my opinion also.  The only thing is WRs are thin in this draft, so I'm thinking the Cowboys could go CB, WR in 1st round, RB in 2nd round, in that order.  If they target Felix Jones it would be the 1st round obviously.  Charles could very well be available for our 61st pick.  Chris Johnson also could make it that far.  I doubt it, but I've seen it on several "professional/expert" mock drafts.  Basically we have many players in mind that are ALL good fits and will probably just approach the draft with the 'best player available' strategy.  For example, if Sweed is still there at #22 we would probably snag him.  Then it would be a CB at #28 UNLESS an exceptional RB is there, then it would be the RB, and the best CB left at #61.  So, that is why I'm praising Charles so much.  Its because he'd most likely be there at #61.

I like you, you, your the guy...who knows the stuff...But on the real, I don't think our philosophies differ to much, and I'm not doubting Pac Man's talent, I just feel more apprehensive than you do about bringing in.  Who knows, I hated the idea of T.O. until that first press conference when he was fitted in that cream suit and immediately convinced me he was ready to change, so Pac Man might change my mind eventually, but right now I just can't look at it as a good move.  I'd rather have a 2nd and 3rd round corner competing with a veteran without a history.  Charles will be a good change of pace back for some team, until he falls apart, but I think Felix Jones (who sharred the load with McFadden and still has many miles left to run) is a better fit, and less of a risk.  But that's just me.  Go Cowboys.

Same team indeed.  Completely different beliefs I suppose.  My point is that the addition of Pacman will not change the fact that we are still going to get a rookie corner or probably even two.  So, we wouldn't be searching a thin free agent market midseason if Pacman is cut, that just simply means we gave a person (Pacman) with ALOT more talent to try for the starting job, and if he messes it up, THEN the rookies step into his spot.  Pacman IS MORE TALENTED than ALL the people you mentioned in last year's 6th round.  As for Jamaal Charles, how can he last, you ask?  He's going to put on weight joining an NFL workout regimin, PLUS he wouldn't be the workhorse.  Barber would be.  He would just compliment him.  So don't disagree with The Truth, because then you'd be FALSE !

For some reason it cut off the first sentence in my last comment, which is kind of important:  I don't care what Charles weighs, if he can't bench or squat more than me, then

he doesn't belong in this league.  I don't lift that much, so any football player that lifts less than me is a wuss.  And I weight a little under 20lbs less than him.  Can we say injured, I know I would be after one game, so how can I expect a guy with less muscle to survive. There's no way his body lasts in the NFL.  I guarantee he doesn't go in the 1st round of the draft, and although he might go in the 2nd, I think his value is in the latter rounds.  I also don't like a cocky kid like him.  I remember when he was quoted by ESPN during his freshman year (following Adrian Peterson's amazing freshman year) to have said he was going to break all of Peterson's records before ever stepping a foot on the field.  Like Pac Man, I just don't want guys with ego's like that unless they're the real deal (i.e. T.O.).  Neither Pac Man nor JamAAL Charles have the talent to back the problems they have.  Disagree with Truth, I don't give a f***, but you better keep your slights to a minimum, we're on the same team here, and I might consider dem to be fightin words.

First of all, do I need to list all the 6th round selections that have made major impacts in the league.  How about just a couple players who made an impact out of last years draft class: HB Blades, Oren O'Neal, Rufus Alexander, Mason Crosby, Davis Irons (though injured, showed he can compete at this level), and our own Deon Anderson.  I'll take a player of their quality over the risk that Pac Man brings.  We're not the Raiders, we're not pathetic and desperate to take such a huge risk on a player of his quality.  You said it for me, "then he will be cut and replaced."  If he's our #3 corner what kind of replacement do you think we're going to get our hands on in the middle of the season.  Here's a just couple of the corners that are still out there, but won't be at mid-season: Cheap Option-Jerametrius Butler-the former lock down corner is still young and would be a good option in the slot, Best Option-Eric Green or Reynaldo Hill would solidify the #3 spot and the restricted FA's would only cost us a 3rd (Hill) to 5th (Green) round pick.  There aren't many good receivers in this draft, and the few that can help right away will be going early.  Let's say we keep our first round picks (the trading up for McFadden was a bad joke that didn't land-sorry), we will need to take both a running back and receiver with those picks (I like Felix Jones and Limas Sweed).  I can then see us taking a corner in the 2nd round, so I think you have a point there, but we're so close to a Championship that I just don't think Pac Man's worth it when there are still other options out there.

I seriously doubt roger goodell is going to reinstate pacman this year....its game over for him.

(Mistakes in my post: disGrace*, ...opposite is tRUe...) I usually proof my posts for mistakes, but I had to post this quickly because it needed a response THAT bad.

E. Smith... don't discrace that name ! ! ! Basically I could say "whatever the E. Smith post above me says, the opposite is ture" but I will explain myself.  You don't think that if the Cowboys get Pacman that they'll just abandon another CB in the draft.  You're an idiot.  It just makes them DEEPER which you were trying to make a point of exactly what they need.  A roster spot??? If he messes up, then he will be cut and replaced.  You don't start with 53 man roster and can never add/drop players during the season.  Your from the Austin area and you can't spell JamAAl Charles, not JaMMal Charles.  6th round, HA !  Are you even serious... or alive for that matter.  He would be a PERFECT fit !  Also, since when did 205 pounds become equal to a 12 year old girl like body.  Plus, I don't think the Cowboys are planning on trading up to get McFadden anymore.  Have you seen that ESPN commercial with the guy that has all the  wrong information.  That is exactly you.  You're just completely talking out of your ass.

F*** Pac MAn Jones.  I don't care if we can get him for only a 6th round pick, he's not worth the roster spot.  We lost two solid backups at corner in Nate Jones and Jacque Reeves, we don't have an answer at either of those spots, and if we trade for Pac Man we have a good chance of lossing a roster spot, a backup corner, and a 6th round pick for nothing but headaches.  You know the way the NFL works, if Pac Man becomes a problem on or off the field it will hurt the whole team.  The media will rip our team apart and kill any momentum in the Conference.  There's only 16 games, if PAc Man ruins 4 of them, and leaves us with a whole in our secondary that will be filled by a player makng the league minimum, then we'll never make it far.  We are ready to win a Super Bowl now, and we can't waist another season on a chance like this.  I still think we can go corner in the second or third round and be ok in the long run.  Oh, and my dad's a professor at UT and I love the Horns, but Jammal Charles would be a horrible desision.  Plain and simple, I just don't like his character, his thin 12 year old girl like body, or the way he runs.  I don't care if he's a track star.  AND taking him in the 1st round would be the dummest thing ever.  If he's around in round 6 or 7 then I'd take him, but no earlier; just look at his Combine workout.  Besides, the Cowboys are going to trade up and grab McFadden anyways, so it really doesn't matter.

i'm w/ya'll on taking pacman if hes a steal gonna miss nate jones after seeing him lite-up favre during reg season

steamrollers talking about the Jimmy Johnson trade that netted the 92 champs from Hersh Walker. yeah, that'll never happen again...did i mention Jimmy Johnson is from PAtex??? neway i also agree with "brutalrages" sentiment about Jamaal Charles teaming up mbiii at 1time they called jamaal the most electrifying runner in college when no1 knew about DMc and during 1same year when Apeterson played for the Okiedokes...did i 4get to mention Jamaal Charles is also from Port Arthur, Tx??? theres alot of tradition of our players getting to the bigg Game, wiki it... I'm sure Wade Phillips(also from Golden Triangle) and Garret recognize all that

Marques, how is it a dumb move? It's no risk. If he becomes a sore in the locker room, bye bye, drop him. Trading away a late round pick for him seems to be a win win.

This would be a dumb move. The Cowboys do not need this idiot on the team and in the locker room.  Jones is just not worth the trouble. If he was the Titans would keep him.  They need secondary help too. Well, if he is coming to Dallas, I hope the city is going to hire some more police because they are going to need it.

Cincy will get more than Dallas will be able to offer to land OCHO CINCO. They will get more than a #28 pick. You guys should look up the Hershal Walker trade info back in 89'. Wikipedia breaks down "the trade" very well, and you will see why no team will make these trades for players with a big name like OCHO CINCO except maybe Oakland who is totally blowing off the fact that the NFL has a salary cap.

THELANDRYHAT  .......after listening to your comments on Cat Crave Radio, I think you are going to really like the mock draft I just sent you, and if you post any of the mock drafts you have recieved from me , I hope it is this one. Check it out and tell me what you think. Titled Steamroller78's 3-20-08 no trades mock draft. After you post this one, I will start working to add changes and update it. THANKS

and as far as chad johnson.....28th pick to cincy for ocho cinco

If it were up to me I say dont bring him here. he's had plenty of chances to turn it around and he keeps messing up but since its not up to me the Cowboys shouldnt even think about trading for him unless he is reinstated. Chances are that he wont even play this year, but we probably wont find out until July (training camp)

I am all for PACMAN though, I actually like the idea of him being here better than DeAngelo Hall and he will cost the team much less as far as a trade and against the salary cap.

Erik, I have been wandering the same thing. A lot of speculation was made about Lito Sheppard after Philly signed Asante Samuel, but I am starting to think that they will just hold onto him for depth. It would probobly take quite a bit to get him anyway with the demand for corners right now.

lance says do it ....i have stated in previous posts why we should do this....

i was jus wondering since we need CBs really bad why arent we looking at Lito?

I was hoping the Cowboys Thug days was over with. As soon a Bill Parcels leaves this kind of stuff happens.

Yeah, well when the worst I can say about the deal is that you better watch your strip clubs, it generally means I agree that this is a win for you guys.  Or at least, a no-lose proposition.  I remember coveting Pac Man because the Redskins were thinking about drafting him (we ended up not getting a chance since the Titans got him one spot ahead of us).  Even considering his trouble with the law (which has really been exaggerated by the media) and his questionable behavior and choice of friends (the real reason why he's trouble) he's got a hell of an upside.  I hope he crash's and burns in Dallas, but I'm afraid that you got some good cheap talent.

Chad Johnson isn't going anywhere unless he continues to bitch about being in Cincy every day for the WHOLE offseason and then MAYBE.  As for him wanting to be a Cowboy... that is wonderful !  BrutalRage... they will never get rid of the salary cap because the Dallas Cowboys of the 90's IS THE REASON THE SALARY CAP WAS PUT INTO PLACE ! ! !

Jerry Jones did specifically say he'd make a splash in free agency.  You never know with him.  I personally think he wanted Randy Moss, but didn't want to make it public until it was a done deal, so he wouldn't look stupid, then he couldn't make it work, so he kept it quiet.  I think THAT was his "big surprise" and it never developed.  Although, I wouldn't put it past him to give the old 42 fake and say "There will be a wow factor in free agency and not the draft" and then do nothing in free agency and attack the draft, just to keep other teams guessing and not expose his plot.  As for Pacman, HE WILL BE A COWBOY if he can be reinstated into the NFL at least halfway through the season.  If not by this year, then it will not happen, and why would it.  Also, it will take EXACTLY a 6th rounder which we just happen to have an extra due to the Jason Ferguson trade with Miami.  The big question is ... can Pacman still play at the same level as he did?  It's hard to take a year off and come back the same, especially knowing that he's busy sippin' Cristal in strip clubs rather than working out and staying in shape.  Then again, if we get him soon, then that's what the offseason workouts are for, and especially if they keep him out an additional 8 games or so.  Oh and Redskins Guy... there are almost 40 strip clubs in Dallas and that is not including other neighboring big cities such as Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, etc.  No matter what though, this IS a good deal.  As "Heebs" said in an earlier post, we would be giving up little investment for high potential and if he doesn't live up to it or gets into trouble again, then nothing is lost but our hopes.

It depends mainly I think if Jerry could get the bengals to let him go and how he could work out a contract that fits our budget still very crazy how everyone looking for a new team seem to look toward the Cowboys. All I can say is everyone better hope they dont get rid of the salary cap ever because our roster might even be more scary.

what do u guys think of chad johnson sayin dallas would be a good fit for him...he's ok w/ T.O. being a number 1 reciever cause he also was playin along a number 1 with T.J. in cincy and that worked...and as far as Pacman I love the idea of him being a cowboy...he's only 24!!!!! Watch the cowboys in 08!!!

So if we get Pacman and the Cowboys are talking to Boldin this is looking in real interesting Jerry might just put some type of wow like he said. I bet everyone in the NFC East is a little bit nervous right now.

this is awesome....... pacman is so so so so talented, hes a very young kid and everyone makes mistakes, shit happens... i believe everyone deserves a second chance and as long as there is some sort of contingency clause i see no reason why this cant work... hes had to have grown up now that hes 24, im sure he realized hes way too damn good at football and i think this could work out awesome... im so pumped for next season if we get pacman, if we sign pacman jones that means we can seriously play games come draft day with our picks cuz we will have secondary at least partially well dealt with and then we can go free for all on offense or trade up for dmac....... i dont care if we do get dmac or not, and i was ok with it if we secured a proven corner, so if we get pacman and then trade up thats fine, but lately im against it, only because im really starting to like some other players.... i think how someone handles themself in front of the camera and how well they can speak and how mature they are goes a lot longer than people think... and this is why i like limas sweed even more than i did before, i think he wouldve been great no matter... hes got the perfect size for WR and can be the future... i say screw the dmac deal now, get pacman, get sweed kelley or jackson at WR and another corner in the 1st round and a RB in the 2nd........... the thing is even if we trade up and get dmac its still all good... its a win win situation, the cowboys are going to be overwhelming favorites next year if not for the whole shabang at least clearly in the NFC

do whatever it takes you people keep bitching about the secondary why not its not going to take that much to get him jeff fisher hates him and wants him gone and doesn't care how.

Yeah I dont see why anybody would have a problem with this. People keep saying how we need a cornerback here is one and one we know that can play the position. So what if he has a past what are the cowboys going to lose a low pick and then give him a small contract. LandryHat do you think this will bring up more talk of Mcfadden? I think if we do get Pacman we should use one of our first pics for Jammal Charles I like the idea of him with Barber. This is starting to maybe look like another exiting year for the Cowboys lets see what happens.

bring him in, sign him to a small contract that requires him to perform and stay out of trouble, and lets try it.  if it doesn't work - see ya.  i don't see how it isn't worth a try.. same as like we did with tank.

Hope there aren't many strip clubs near Texas Stadium.

For a 6th round pick, bring him over.

guy had too many shots already, he blew it. i dont even think jerry could reel him in.anyone catch best damn sports show period....ocho wants to be in big D and gives reasons why he and TO would work
