Cowboys Sign A Cornerback!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did the title get you all excited? Well, sit back down. It ain’t earth-shattering. The Dallas Cowboys gave Evan Oglesby a one-year, $520,000 contract today. The former Ravens cornerback really hasn’t done anything in his young career yet, and he will serve a back-up role for the Cowboys.
Hey, at least there is a tiny bit of depth at the position now after Nate Jones and Jacques Reeves skipped town.

who??
March 17th, 2008 at 11:14 pmwho indeed we really need the wow factor in the draft because weve done next to nothing.
March 18th, 2008 at 5:46 amThat name sounds familiar, was he in the Cowboys camp last year??
March 18th, 2008 at 6:50 amI see now. The Ravens cut Evan early last season and the Cowboys picked him up. He appeared in 8 games for the Cowboys in 2007. I knew that name looked familiar… The Cowboys simply resigned him for 2008.
March 18th, 2008 at 6:54 amapperently the Ravens thought he had some upside but they could not keep him.
March 18th, 2008 at 7:12 amlast night during the desperados game JJ was interviewed at length by the espn commentators… they asked him about next year and the draft and darren mcfadden, he didnt shy away from it at all and talked about the trade up very reasonably… he made it sound like if its good for the team he would do it but he emphasized the need to improve the defense but he also said they need a ‘playmaking’ offense guy, but he talked about how we already have barber and emphasized wwhat a great leader barber is , he actually sounded more reasonable than ive ever heard him, it made me feel much less anxious about what may happen to us, but he was well prepared t oanswer, i think hes gonna do something surprising
March 18th, 2008 at 8:28 amI saw the same interview last night, Seems to me like its going to be 50/50. Either he will trade if the price is right or he will stay put with the picks (which I hope he does) I think he realizes that it will cost alot to trade up to get D-MAC.
March 18th, 2008 at 8:33 amDon’t pay much attention to his demeanor. He’s clearly negotiating for a trade. If he were to say "We’re gonna go get him! We love him so much we can’t live without him!" then the price tends to go up. Of COURSE he’s going to make it sound like he can take it or leave it. That doesn’t mean he won’t overpay. And if Marion Barber is part of the deal, he’s naturally going to want to speak up about what a great player he is.
March 18th, 2008 at 10:44 amGet it out of your heads. We do not need Dmac. The only sane way to get him is to trade players and a 1st and still have the other 1st. They can not do that because of cap issues. It would just cost to much to get him unless he falls past the 4th or 5th pick…Then maybe..
March 18th, 2008 at 11:09 amGuys check out this quote by matt mosely on hasmarks about Boldin from Arizona.According to sources close to Hashmarks, the Cowboys spent some time talking about Boldin last week at Valley Ranch. It wouldn’t surprise me if they reached out to the Cardinals at some point. Dallas needs someone other than Patrick Crayton to play opposite of Terrell Owens, and Boldin would certainly be worth a No. 1 pick. I’m not saying this is going to happen, but it’s something you should keep an eye on.
March 18th, 2008 at 12:48 pmIm not opposed to using one of our #1’s for Anquan Boldin….as long as it doesn’t screw up the salary cap.
March 18th, 2008 at 1:19 pmDALLAS IS NOT TRADING UP INTO THE TOP TEN.Having said that I just saw that the Raiders gave Deangelo Hall 7 year 70 million.I had to get out of my seat and laugh. I cant believe Al davis has lost his mind Deangelo Hall is worth 35 million on a 7 year deal tops the guy may get some interceptions but he gets beat alot.Tnew doesnt give up any touchdowns and doesnt get that many pics I would take Terence Newman over Deangelo Hall ANY day.If you are a true Cowboy fan you would know Tnew is a great person he is always doing things in the community plus he is a shutdown corner I think he has given up 3 touchdowns in two years that is better than Deion did as a Cowboy. It just made me think Tnew will most likely be the good soldier and take like 45 or 50 million to stay a cowboy while dirtbags like Hall get 70 million. Its a shame but the good thing is he will go to the Raiders and they will stink……..
March 18th, 2008 at 5:22 pmCorrect me if Im wrong but Terence Newman plays on the same side as Roy Williams the only time we saw how bad Roy is in coverage is this year when Terrance Newman was injured and not playing at a 100%. I know Roy never has been good a coverage but Newman always seems to make him not look as bad.
March 18th, 2008 at 6:05 pmOk if we get boldin that would probaly be a wow factor. Then we can go for maybe a CB in the first round then RB in the second maybe Chris Johnson or Jammal Charles. Also I was on the Cowboys website in the blog and once again everyone in there seriously works at valley ranch or at least at their bank because they seem to know what we can and cant afford. I mean Jerry will figure something out or he wouldent of talked to him in the first place if it is true.
March 18th, 2008 at 6:34 pmSteamRoller I see that you like Chris Johnson in the draft but I seem to see more in Jammal Charles. I see our offence of line and it isnt doing the best in run blocking and we are fortunate to have Barber to make himself a way. Chris Johnson has great speed I just dont see him breaking tackles alot, of course Im only going by what I see on youtube. When I see Jammal Charles I see him breaking tackles to make big plays and still has enough speed to break away. I might be wrong but I think Chris Johnson is going to be like another Jones but faster. Let me know what you think.
March 18th, 2008 at 7:38 pmat least we can stop talking about trading for deangelo hall. that is a ridiculous contract. T-new should be getting that kind of money not hall. anyway. I guess we should focus on the draft and see who the cowboys can draft…
March 18th, 2008 at 7:58 pmlandryhat what is the possibility of us gettin 85 i was just watching NFL total access and 85 said that he wants out of the bengals
March 18th, 2008 at 8:06 pmThe Bengals dont want to let him go cause they would not be in a good position. What I was thinking is when is his contract up anyways maybe he could replace T.O. later down the line due to him getting older sooner or later.
March 18th, 2008 at 8:16 pmI like Charles, I think that he is a good back and would be very satisfied if he was a second round pick for Dallas. I think that speed is the key, and if Darren McFadden can’t be aquired, Chris Johnson is the guy who can get around the corner and crank it up the sideline. Marion Barber is our starter and a downhill runner. Dallas doesn’t need another crazy physical bruising back. We got that 100% covered. Charles is not as fast, but I do see what you are saying about Johnson’s size posing a problem to go down easily. What I do like about this guy as compared to Charles is how he runs. He runs low, cuts quick plus 4.24 speed, plus, you gotta catch him to make contact. That in no way to me is comparable to Julius Jones. Charles is a good back though too, so I wouldn’t be opposed to him having a star on his helmet. As far as Jones, he hesitates too much in making a cut up field, that is why it has seemed here lately that the line isn’t making holes for him. Marion Barber does’nt have a problem getting through because he hits it fast and hard. I don’t think that Johnson is a guy you would want running straight into a hoard of linebackers up the middle no, but he can get it outside. Watch the video of him again and see how fast he gets from hash to sideline then the cut up. That’s freaking amazing to me.

March 18th, 2008 at 8:23 pmNo chance in hell. Not this year. We don’t have any room to sign him. He’d get nearly TO money. Plus, 85 has said he’d like to play for almost any team. He’s just talking crap.
