Jacques Reeves Gone. Adios!

Jacques Reeves signed with the Texans today. I will tell ya, it’s good to see him gone because he caused a lot of heartache this season. His coverage skills were inconsistent and he really wasn’t very good. Despite that, he surprisingly gets a 5 year $20 million deal with the Texas. Yikes. Did they watch any game tape? I wouldn’t pay him $500,000.

The Cowboys are looking at wideout Javon Walker, who the Broncos released on Friday. I’m not sure about Walker because he is often injured. He only played in 8 games for the Broncos and was worthless in those games. He has six years in the NFL, and his best stats were with the Packers. He’s had two 1,000-yard-plus years. His highest touchdown count was 12 in 2004.

My initial feeling is I prefer someone else because of his injury history. Bernard Berrian is at the top of my list if the Cowboys can pry him away from the Vikings. That should be easy because the Vikes don’t have a good quarterback.

Its funny you say that becasue thats the first thing that came out of my mouth about Mcfadden was a taller Bush but well see Cuse Bush was Best RB in his draft and hasnt impressed me but Peterson was Best in his and he Blew up so you can never be sure. I woulnt say Huge underachievers thats a litle harsh considering who they have to compete with on the team, But in a sese of underachieving i agree. An honestly if Ayodele has to be in that deal to work than so be it Carpenter or Thomas should be able to the job. From reading the reports Hall wont come cheap but rember he doesnt want to leave Atlanta cuse of money He wants out of Atlanta Period. If it was about money than he would get his act straight and settle things with Atlana becasue hes a franhise player there and could GET PAID in Atlanta or go else where. Hall has expressed "theres no chance hel play for atlanta in 08". Now Halls got one year left and will be a free agent next year . So Atlanta wants to trade him versus chancin him holding out and leaving next year , which would leave Atlanta with nothing. Threfore Halls going to the team of whom they can get the best trade from. Hall has also mentioned a desire to play for the Cowboys and im sure hes informed of our Cap issues.

I don't think my P is working!? :)

TDC--not arguing either, but when you tried to "sell" Spears and Carp to Atlanta, instead of saying they are HUGE underachievers, you said they were "1st round defensive players."   Atlanta doesn't care where we drafted them, just if they can lay or not.  The 3 pick, 3 layer deal could actualy work, but Hall is going to want big money, and I'm not sure DMF isn't a taller version of Reggie Bush.

Im trying to find where i wrote "our 1st round talent" which you quoted. Im not tryin to argue with you im trying to dicsuss it with you, Were on the same page except for the fact you feel we should give up more players according to your points expressed. But Jerry Jones will take care of who needs to go and how many so were wasting our breath thinking of combinations. Akin Ayodele doesnt play special teams becasue hes our starting MOLB 3-4 so if e have a backup (like Carpeter)we put him on ST incase of injury. If Carpenter started i dont think he wud play special teams, his backup would.  Im just hopin Walker isnt Jerrys suprise LoL.

TDCowboy...if you can use the "our 1st round talent" while evaluating value in Spears and Carpenter, why can't I use it for the 3rd round James Marten?  Guess what, these guys may have been 1st round picks, but as of right now, they aren't worth much to a great team.  they can help a poor team like Atlanta. I like Free and McQuistan better than Marten, so with Flo signing, he is expendable, and can probably play for the Falcons.  I think Adoyele is more attractive to the Falcons because of it's new coach having him 2 years ago.  i can live with BC being the backup ILB and playing special teams (which Akin doesn't do!).  Jerry HAS to keep our #2 and get a quality DB to go along with Hall.  Thus the #3 along with #22 and #28 in round 1---and---Spears, Adoyele and Marten works for me.  We lose nothing as far as players go and the picks are basically getting the best RB in the draft.

well said octopus man

Romo    Owens  BarberAikman   Irvin    Smith

Anyone know anything new about Moss i figure were not goin after him but im intrested to know where hes goin. And  I sense alotta dislike for Akin Ayodele Guys hes not a superstar but hes been a consitant player cmon the guys playin beside future hall of famers. But that defense works with Carpenter as well but Ayodele starts. What yall think IF we had go trade one of them

I think Jerry has gottin waaay 2 much disrespect.  He's got 3 rings.  I have never disliked the guy.  He is no Dan Snyder I know that much.  I live in DC and i met J.J. at a game, I shook his hand.  The guy is a class act.  So many people said Jimmy Johnson desearves all the credit for those rings thats bs.  Jerry hired everyone.

my opinion of owens has never been that he's a favorite of mine. when they put romo in i said what in the hell are you doing parcells you fatass!!!!! i still hate the fatass from his giant days, i'm sorry. hell i go back to the days when tom put in a raw 27 yearold no experience qb by the name of roger. we all know how that turned out. i bitched when we drafted aikman. i thought we should have took sanders!!!!! you see, fans like us really know shit about this stuff. thats the truth. do we know what plans jerry has made yet? lets give the man some slack, or just enough rope to hang himself as some of you would like to say. i don't kow about some of you guys, but i like jerry jones. he's a winner. he wants to win, he wants to make more money, and hell, heDOES. whats not to like about that. unless your redskinsguy or one of his buddies. tdcowboys you said it right jerry knows what and how to do it. he'll probably over spend on mcfadden, but bet your ass people if he wants him bad enough he'll get him without lossing everything else he's built. that new stadium would look great with another world championship banner hanging in it.

Didnt T.O stand in our star? Now everyones lovin hes hear so i think they can work the spit out epecially since Hall told Dieon(who T.O is also friends with) he would like to play in dallas. I agree DDF jerry knows what he doin. Hes gonna make the best moves he can make and doesnt have to worry about getting screwed over. He Runs the place hes like stienbrener for the Yankees but better consideing the cap de deals with. Regardless our most important position is Corner RB, and WR are nice but we Had no problem scoring last year.

oh and by the way, who the hell has to GIVE anyone what this so called price tag is on these draft picks. look what we got for hershall  walker. if there's a need, you play your trump card. who the hell else has the ammo that jeery has to get this deal done? so you guys think jerry has to give up 4 draft picks and 5 players or whatever??? bullshit!!!!! you make an offer and if atlanta sees the need they take it or anyone else in line. the farther down the list we go the cheaper the price. my only hope is that jerry stays away from fatass. i don't want to give him anything else

boys i don't care how we do it just let's get er done.....the only reason i said that jerry would trade down is the logical situation with the money. you either got to trade or cut to sign 2 1st rnders with only 4mill left on the cap. math is easy, these 1st rnders don't add up guys, and we don't need impact players (other then a good corner), really!!!!! we can will the bowl with what we got know and we should have and nobody argues that.....so you go depth.....we could have more talent and depth then we had before the cap when jimmy john was here. somebody goes down, it'd be nice to plug another potential starter in the hole. remember the days. and.....hall will play if you incentive laden his contract. if someone wants to bitch talk, then bitch slap him

CONFIMED       Michael Turner just signed with the Falcons a 6 year deal. Setting up for a trade with Jerry?

I don't want Hall comin to Dallas.  That guy is nothing but talk.  I can see that he is a good corner but we don't need someone yappin his jaw nonstop.  Also didn't T.O. spit in his face 2 years ago!

Actually Miami has the #32 and I would assume the first pick in the third which would be #64 since the Pats lost thier pick in the first round prior to trading back in with the niners. Does anyone know where I can find an accurate 2008 NFL draft order for all rounds of drafting that is kept up to date?

If Jerry trades enough players he will make up a lot of cap space also, so consider this. James Martin, Anthony Fasano and Akin Aydole and both first rounders to Atlanta for Hall and the #3. PLUS in another trade Marcus Spears  for Miami's #33 and #65.  That would give Dallas the # 33 , #59 ,and #65 to give the secondary some depth.

Mike thats not a bad suggestion BUT how can you say Giving Atlanta both our first round defensive players in Carpenter and Spears and our Two 1st round picks is not sweet enough? Hall doesnt want to be in atlanta and getting Carpenter and Spears for him is a gift for Blank versus getting nothing for him not to mention two 1st rnd picks. Ayodele is a former jag But Carpenter is younger and brings more promise in his carrear not to mention learning from Ware,Ellis,James andAyodele. And James Marten most likey wouldnt have gotten the start if Flo Doug Free would have not to mention Jones mentioning Free as the player to step up if Flo departed. So in the end i dont really agree

If it takes more for Jerry to make the deal happen possible players could include Doug Free, James Martin, Bobby Carpenter, Akin Aydole, Spears, and you would have to think a tight end also since they released Crumpler. Anthony Fasano. Between Jason Witten and Tony Curtis we are sitting good there without Fasano.

I am telling you that there is no way in hell Jerry trades down. If Jerry does'nt land D Mac he will trade up to land another big offensive impact player. Next in line? Maybe Malcolm Kelly. Jerry has to get these PSL's sold. He is about to make a big move to seal the deal.

C'mpm guys, this Atlanta "trade" is as not good enough for the Falcons to do it.   Let's try to be realistic here.  We want Hall and McFadden right?  Sounds good to me, BUT what would it cost us?  Definitely our two #1's (22 & 28), and I would include our #3.  As for players in this equation.  Spears makes sense, but Carp does not.  Since the new head coach for the Falcons is the Jags old DC, why not include our starting ILB, ex-Jag Akin Ayodele?   Carp can be Zachs back-up this year, as long as he wears # wears #55 and gives his #54 to a real football player.  One more thing to sweeten to pot would be last years #3 pick OT James Marten.  With Flo's signing, JT won't see the field for us, but could probably start next year for the Falcons.  LT's aren't easy to find!  So 3 picks (22, 28 and 92?) and 3 starting players (Spears, Ayodele and Marten) would probably do the trick.  To complete this off-season dream, we use our 2nd round pick for a CB/S and grab one of those (Peyton or Owen) tough FB's in round 4.   LAST piece would be signing the 29 year old Dallas native WR Javon Walker and cut the 34 year old Terry Glenn.  They're both knee concerns, but one is 5 years younger, a local kid and close with our WR coach.  SEE YA IN TAMAPA!!!

Steamroller and Davedallasfan first off Im gona start callin you Steam and DDF cuse i hate typing all those letters cuse my keyboard sticks. Great points fellas! Does anyone know who ran the fastest 40 time in the NFL combine? None other than our own Dieon Sanders 4.19 not to knock your point Steam cuse Game speed can Change from your 40 speed and i wouldnt mind havin speedy Johnson. FELLAS TELL ME IF U AGREE but im just hoping we can lock up Barber and trade for Hall cuse then we well have elite players to fill our needs. Even if we dont get a higher pick for Mcadden we still have 22 and 28 which like DDF we can trade for second round picks and im positive we can grab a RB late to compliment Baber who was a 4th round Pick himself. Not to mention with all those 2nd round picks open cheap options for prospect WR,CB and DT.

ok, point well added, so where does johnson go in the draft? can he be had at 22 or 28 or later? we don't need 2 1st rounders at the place our team is at in dallas. wee need DEPTH, and also FROSTING. mcfadd is the frosting, but if we can't get it, i say don't waste the money on 1st rnd LATE picks when you can own the 2nd and 3rd rnds. thats where true depth and talent are

steamroller 78, i got my cap info from dallascowboys.com. mickey spagnola the senior writer, did a breakdown of what flo cost us, what barber will cost us as of now and what thomas used up. he said about 4mill. that ain't alot. he also said owens is reworking now, and 2 others? are in the process. no names?

Putting the D MAC and Randy Moss rumurs aside for a moment, have you guys seen the hi-light video of Chris Johnson on YouTube. This guy would fit as a reciever or RB. The fastest time in the 40 at the combine and faster than Deion Sanders back in the day. Pretty impressive. He would look good alongside of the barbarion. Got dreads? Oh yeay he's got that too.

Well said Alan, and Jerry knows this too guys. It is going to be a waiting game if this is the scenario. I guarantee you the first and foremost thing right now on Jerry's mind is restructuring contracts and looking for a way to free up cap space, that way he can afford D MAC. By the way who has accurate information on the web of salary cap info. I have heard anywhere from 2million to much more and no proof any of this info. is accurate.

and look around the league, does anyone have more ammo than JJ at this time?????2 1st and players, d-players, to spare!!!!!!thats CLOUT boys. if anyone can afford to move up, they don't have the picks to part with this year and you'd have to mortgage your future? JJ's settin pretty......man i love this strategy....this is his GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

absolutely, this deal won't go down till draft day at spot 3. we know what the rams will do? right? we just gotta wait for fatass to decide, no-one, and i repeat, no-one will move up to the # 1 spot to take mcfadd the price is too steep, but someone might do it for a d-lineman. but they have these picks so inflated in value that you have to wait for someone to drop. enter JJ. that's what he's waitin for. once alanta is on the board he'll start his move, if they don't go, then he'll try everyone down the way till mcfadd is gone or he gets it done. if he can't deal, and mcfadd gets away, i beleve jj will move down in the draft with his 2 #1s and land a few more 2nds and stockpile more picks for the next few drafts for potential young talents. i'ts gonna be pricey to sign 2 #1s with only abot 4 mill to spare. i think some of you guys may not see this. we pick 22 and 28 that's 2nd rnd matreial unless someone falls, so why not be in the 2nd rnd a few more times, get good talent, for a whole lot less money, and have some candy in the dish next year? do we all know jerry here? i think it's mcfadden in the 1st or get out of it. money, guys, money will dictate

This deal won't happen until Atlanta's name is called in the 1st round of the Draft. Making a deal like this official before the time is right, just won't work. 30 other teams already know what JJ wants from Atlanta, so if they want McF they'll do whatever they can to mess this deal up. So if this is the "surprise" that Jerry talks about, we've got a long time to wait.

i've been on alot of different blogs, and this one is great, you guys are very knowledgable fans with an even pespective. we need that. i've seen way to much of the"dallas sucks" and "philly rules" shit that these eight year old kids put up when they are sneakin on their parents computors. i'm glad to see we put a stop to the vulgar language and backlash that was firing around on some earlier posts. nice job here LANDRY HAT, my hats of to ya. i love the memories that tom gave us to, i'll never for get the look he had after the colts beat us in bowl iv. never saw more grit in my life. tom said " if we take everything we can from the losses in our life, and don't forget the pain, we will forever be a success, for winning is but a moment in time, but it seems a loss stands forever." ever think about that guys? we won 5 bowls as cowboy fans and the memories are still sweet, but the 3 losses we had are still more memorable to me. because i can still see how those stupid mistakes we made could've changed history, and hell we could have had 8!!!!!! oh well what's to say we still won't have 8!!!!! i love this blog!!!!! keep up the great work guys, hey i even like those dawg gone redskin fans on here too......

sorry boys, my wife pulled the plug on me last nite(you know how that goes), i spent the better part of last nite tryin to find that blog about the dallas/atlanta trade, like i said, i'm not sure of the validity of the info, but i DID here the deion sanders interveiw with hall. he said what he said. we all know he's gone from atl. one way or another. so that leaves blank in a bind. blank's going to get his best bang for the buck, and with jerry breathin down his throat and offerin more than possibly anyone else????well????it sounded like some possitive credentials to me......we all know how bad jerry wants mcfadd, and i'll be damn sure he's thought of every possible trade senerio with those top 7 teams or so????? i tend to think this or something very similar will happen. the nail in the board for all this trade talk is obvilious, wee gotta make cap space one way or another. we have only 4mill to spend now. as it stands guys, moss is only using dallas to get a better deal in nengland. that's were he wants to be. hell, we can't sign him the way it stands now. we got barber hangin there yet guys, and i believe fisher may sniff around this for awhile. unless you trade or dump, your stalled-----remember 2 -1st rnders to sign.

Praise The Lord !!!!! Thank god that hack isn't coming back he couldn't cover me. 5 years 20 mill is that a typo ?

Yea it was attached to the espn site so i fig it may have some credability but who knows just wanted to bring it to yalls attention. I can find anything about the atlanta trades where can i find something on it?

There are some hot chicks on that link and a lot of Philly fans, but I couldn't find the Dallas, Atlanta trade talks there. Either way it was definetly somewhere I could spend many hours of my time. Checking out the girls and talking trash to the Philly fans. I have seen blogs about this same topic though too. It may have been at gryphononcowboys.blogspot.com I don't know, but it is as you said very intriguing.

Think about this guys. T.O., Randy Moss, Marion Barber still in Dallas next year still and Darren McFadden. Jerry I would sale everything I own to see that again in 09.

Fellas for some reason its not showin on my other computer the web site, iv ben tryn to post it so go to www.YardBarker.com

Randy Moss just wants to win the big game. He won't go to Philly. It's not about the money anymore with him. It isn't impossible that Jerry brings him in. If he doe's T.O., GETCHA POPCORN READY. And you can't double team the both of them.

If Moss goes to Philly ill be screaming...."Ocho Cinco come save us!!!!"

Its attached to espn.com check out fellas time for more butterflies http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/BREAKING_NE...

Its attached to espn.com check out fellas time for more butterflies http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/BREAKING_NE...

Fellas according to espn.com Randy Moss is only intrested in the Eagles and Cowboys which is not necesarily good news for us becasue the chances of us giving Moss money that Philly would give him are slim plus Moss would be the Number one in philly no questions asked. The only way i see us getting Moss is if he takes another Cheap contract becasue the chances of him coming to the Cowboys and winnning a super Bowl are Better than Phillys but its still scary

and as far as hall is concerned he ain't got shit....think about it. he wants out of atlanta. said I'll play "for anyone that wants me." sounds like someone that has an upper hand? one things for sure he sure the hell won't play for atlanta!!!!!so you gotta take what you can get for him. well blank could draft mcfadden himself, build the team around him? possibly? sounds great, but it'll take a couple more drafts to do it, and the dumbasses let schaub go last year too. oh, i'm sure blank's ok with joey harrinton? well here comes dallas, 2 #1's and players that can start for you now! this is a deal that you can build your franchise on.....we did it before with seattle, and minnesota......so don't sya it won't work with atlanta stuck between a rock and a hard spot

If nothing else guys I do truly believe DeAngelo Hall will be a Cowboy next year. The waiting game is just going to continue for a while on the big surprise offensive wow power Jerry has for us. Maybe Emmitt Smith makes a return. lol

STEAMROLLER, I WILL NOT GIVE UP ANYMORE THAN CARP, SPEARS AND BOTH FIRST ROUNDERS, FOR HALL AND THE # 3.....GETTING THE #1 PICK IN THE DRAFT IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN, THE FINANCIALS OF SIGING THE FIRST PICK IN THE DRAFT, WOULD HURT OUR CAP TOO MUCH....

that won't happen, as much as jerry wants mcfadden, he's not going to jepordize what he's already built. he won't get rid of core players. hell we almost won it without any thought of mcfadden, mcfadd is frosting, he'll put people in the seats. more revenue.....he's an investment.....if you can do that with draft picks and players thta have potential, (just maybe not with your club) you sell it, then you pounce all over hell on it. that's what made jerry jone a legend in the business world. hell do any of you guys know anything about jj before he bought the cowboys, holy shit what a biography that is, read it you'll be amazed. that's why he's already one 3 and who knows how many more? don't ever say never with jerry. blank is a pushover compared to jj, just look at how vick shafted and swindelled him. blank did'nt know what the hell hit him when it happened, well, he better duck this time cause jerry's throwin the stones now

WE CAN GET THIS DEAL DONE WITHOUT FASANO, THINK OF IT THIS WAY : ATLANTA CAN REBUILD 1/4 OF THEIR DEFENSE IN JUST THE FIRST ROUND IF THEY TAKE CARPENTAR AND SPEARS, AND THEN TWO MORE FIRST ROUND PICKS, THIS WILL HAVE A BIGGER IMPACT FOR THE FALCONS THEN DRAFTING MCFADDEN OR A LONG, THEY ARE NOT 1 PLAYER AWAY, THIS TRADE WOULD DEF BENIFIT THEM, LETS HOPE THEY ARE AS SMART AS WE ARE!!   THIS BUNCH OF POSTS HAS BEEN WELL THOUGHT OUT AND INTELLIGENTLY EXPRESSED....I LIKE IT BOYS GREAT JOB!!!

I hope Jerry Jones is thinking the same way you are, but something is telling me Arthur Blank knows he has the upper hand in this one and DeAngelo Hall's price just went up for the Cowboys. What are we really willing to sacrifice? DeMarcus Ware? Tony Romo? What?

David,
If you find a rumor, get the link and share it with us. I haven't seen that rumor yet. I guess I wouldn'd mind trading with atlanta for the 3rd pick to get Mcfadden and Hall for our two first picks, Spears and Carpenter. My wonder is if the COwboys plan to start Jay Ratliff ro replace Spears and start Tank. I am sure these guys can move around the line. Not a bad move if Cowboys did it.

the falcons are nailin turner from sandeigo as we speak, so they won't want a back. the rams won't. so the bastards in miami will not be able to talk anyone into talking that pick for mcfadden. if the fatass does trade it, someone will take one of those d-line guys.....that leave the market open for atlanta. they get 2 #1's and lets say, spears, carpenter???hall is bitchin mad and the last thing blank needs is another headache, so like was said hall would be the easy part.....concievably dallas has 4 #1's on the table???? would it take more???? hell throw in fasano then, atlanta let crumpler go so a te would be great i think we may be able to spare him

Looks like Atlantas gonna sighn Mike Turner RB which puts some more spice into the Trade talks with Dallas.
