Jason Ferguson On Trade Block. The Landry Hat Says Do It!

A reader asked me to opine on this rumor today. It’s an easy one in my opinion. Jason Ferguson, a nose tackle who injured his bicep in the first game of the 2007 season, is a good player coming off a pretty serious injury.

The Cowboys had surprising, at times amazing, play from Jay Ratliff. The Cowboys also have Tank Johnson. It seems like a no-brainer to me. If Miami wants Ferguson and is willing to give up a draft pick, do it.

Ferguson is coming of an injury and Ratliff is coming off a great season. There is no reason to believe that Ratliff won’t get better. And having Tank Johnson as a back up makes one of the best nose tackle duos in the NFL.

Trading Ferguson is a solid football decision for the Cowboys.

Haha this conversation wasnt really even worth talkin about see ya Ferguson thanks for coming to Dallas and Giving Jay Ratliff a chance to show that hes better, lets get whatever we can for the ageing vet. All Done Agree?

Yeah i wish, Sorry, i meant the 1st pic of the sixth round. So no new pics just changed positions in the same round.

No Slimjimzv. It's only one sixth round pic next year. This year they trade sixth round pics, so Dallas gets the 1st pic of the first round this year.

Two sixth round pics.. one this year, one next.  Not bad.

i think they will take frank okam out of texas in the third round.

Hopefully, it'll be a 5th or 6th round pick, but yeah, i'd do it too. Ratliff played well last season and earnt his contract, plus with Tank on the roster and a cap save of £2million its a no-brainer. Only thing is with the talk of not having a true NT, do you see us going after one in the draft, someone like Red Bryant perhaps?

well said hit.  im all for it too.  we need the cap space.

This is a no brainer, if you can get a pick for an aging veteran that is not a need player you have to go ahead and pull the trigger.  Even if we only get a 7th round pick it is better then nothing, not to mention is will save us over 2 million in cap space this year.  This was something that really bothered me at times about parcells, he falls in love with his former players and gives up more than he should to get them.  Good thing for dallas is if this happens from now on it can only benefit us.
