Dallas Cowboys Sign Zach Thomas to 1-Year Deal

The Dallas Cowboys made their first move in the free agency pool by signing linebacker Zach Thomas to a 1-year deal. This came out of nowhere. Brian at Phin Phinatic had a great post at the end of the season that was proof Thomas was leaving Miami for good.

This signing is a no brainer, win-win for the Cowboys. We get a tough linebacker who can fill the hole that linebacker Bobby Carpenter has been unable to fill. The Cowboys only have to pay the 34 year old $3 million for the deal.

Thomas is a tackling machine. He’s registered 100 tackles in almost all of his 12 NFL seasons, which is just unheard of. What’s even better is Thomas scoffs at the Patriots deal because he knows they are cheaters.

I like this signing a lot. I’ve always liked Thomas because he’s such a beast and a hard hitter.

The move makes no sense at all. He does not fit a 3-4 defense, and he is basically washed up. Dallas already has good linebackers on the team. They need to find a FS, a CB, and a LT.

"Thomas scoffs at the Patriots deal because he knows they are cheaters." That line made my day lmao.

Well Zach Thomas was undersize for a 4-3 but that didn’t stop him from playing very good.I really thought he would go to the Patriots or even the Saints. While he is undersized,Zach Thomas is a overachiever.

Just hope he doesn’t get another concussion.  If that happens, he’ll be spending the season on the sidelines reliving those old Snickers commercials. ("I’m Batman!")  I like Zach Thomas and he’s been a tackling machine.  It’s a shame that he chose to turn to evil to finish out his career.  With luck, he’ll be a huge bust and blow up in your face.  Pity.

NEWS FLASH: I cheer against the Cowboys and I hope they do poorly next year.  Sorry if that comes as a shock to you.  I did admit that he’s a good player.  I’m just bummed that I have to dislike him now.  Of course, his other option (the Patriots) wasn’t much better in the good versus evil spectrum.  I will note that one Mister Landry Hat would have mocked the Redskins up and down if we had signed Thomas, saying that we were once again paying too much money for aging stars who are past their prime.  Then you would have called Snyder crazy again.  But since JJ is doing it, I guess it’s a smart move that you love.  Go on, tell me I’m wrong.

Redskins Guy do you post on this more than your own teams site? Even if Snyder signed Thomas to a one year deal it couldnt be seen as so crazy, its only one year. I think its indicative of how good the Cowboys are that Thomas probably thinks he has his best shot in Dallas. The Pats will lose some players and they are under controversy and its going to be a tough road to get through the AFC, which I personally think the Chargers will take this upcoming season. Even though the Giants won the big game Dallas is still the team to beat and still has the most talent (this, of course, will change if JJ acts on retarted impulse, bags Barber and tries to go for McFadden aka the biggest mistake ever). The Cowboys still have the best offense in the NFC, if the Cowboys can boost their defense and Thomas feels confident enough that he can contribute big time in a state he feels at home I think this will be a good thing. And in the good vs evil spectrum…. I mean the Patriots are the utmost evil organization not only in sports but all of the world. I hate the Redskins and I would still rather them over the Pats, thats why I rooted for NY over the Pats, at least we lost to the eventual champs and it shows that those evil cheating a-hole Pats cant win a game without help and their dynasty has been tainted hahahah i hate them

Landry’s extremely prolific so I probably end up posting more frequently over here, but I check the two sites as frequently and I post on both anytime that there’s something to post about.  I also check the Eagles and Giants pages frequently.  The NFC East is the best division in football, even if three-fourths of them are hated enemies. I was also very happy to see the Giants beat the Pats, but it was more of a "pick your poison" sort of thing.  The Giants have already won a superbowl so watching them Forrest Gump their way to another superbowl was easier to swallow than watching the Pats have a historical perfect season.  Also, even if the Giants had lost, their season would have been a huge success since nobody expected them to even get there, however if the Patriots lost, their season was ruined and they go down in infamy.  Since I hate both teams, I was THRILLED to watch one of them go down in flames.  And it’s nice to see the NFC East dominant again. As it should be.

agreed te NFC east is the best division in football and then i think the AFC south is 2nd best and then its just a huge gap
