Calvin “I’m Shallow” Watkins with the Dallas Morning News reported today that the Dallas Cowboys will let unrestricted free agent Flozell Adams test the free agency market instead of quickly signing him to a long-term deal. I don’t necessarily trust Watkins’ reporting because he makes a statement without a source. Watkins saying the Cowboys will let the free market price Adams’ comes from him only. He doesn’t mention there is still time to sign him before he tests the market.
Anyway, this is not good for Flo fans. Oftentimes, when free agents test the market, and they are Pro Bowlers, they tend to follow the money. The bling bling.
With the Cowboys allowing Flo to test the waters, his value likely will increase. The Cowboys will either pay him more or let him go. And the latter means it’s Pat McQuistan or Doug Free starting at left tackle this coming season.
Can the Cowboys feasibly sign Flo and still have money to keep Ken Hamlin, sign two first-round picks and work on Marion Barber’s contract? Who is reading the tea leaves here?
