Dear Faithful Readers, I Have Been Attacked By A Giant

I guess it’s risky to come out in force to protect our quarterback Tony Romo. But that’s exactly what I did this week. I came home real late from a concert in DC only to find this post at G-Men Headquarters, a brother blog for the NY Giants, on the fansided.com NFL blogging network. I was already tired and annoyed that I had to work in six hours and that ignorant post sent me over the edge.

First, the Giants made an amazing playoff run and all this dink-a-doo could do is bash Tony Romo? There isn’t a slow day in G-Town when your team is in the big game, pal. So, it is suffice to say I blew up and left this comment. I can come up with 10 blogging topics for you while your team prepares for this game instead of coming after our quarterback.

Neil, who operates the blog, decided to dedicate an entire blog to me here. Neil, I am honored you felt my comment was important enough to you for you to write an entire blog criticizing it. That’s sweet. Maybe you will think twice about writing a ridiculous post about a Dallas Cowboy during a time when your team is facing the biggest game of its life against an undefeated NFL team. On second thought, I take that back. I expect you to do it again, and the Riggos and the Iggles will follow.
You bark about Eli Manning’s playoff wins, and that’s fine. You criticize an NFL quarterback on my beloved team who played in his first full season and broke every single team passing record. And because he has lost two very close playoff games on last second plays, he’s a loser? Eli Manning is not winning those playoff games for the Giants, Neil. He is just not LOSING THOSE GAMES for the Giants. The defense is winning the games.

My faithful readers, I ask you to visit G-Men Headquarters and let him know what you think about his vicious attack on me and Tony Romo. It’s bad enough he says Romo sucks. But it’s just wrong for him to attack all Cowboys fans.

“The only thing worse than the Dallas Cowboys is their fans,” G-Men Neil says.

Are we going to let him say this?

I agree, Guy. Average it was.

As I said, I don't blame him for the loss.  His performance could partially be chalked up to injury.  But it is what it is.  Regardless of the reason behind it, his performance was average.  Not bad; not great.  If he was at the top of his game, you probably wouldn't have lost even WITH the dropped passes.  I'm not dissing anyone; if anything I think I'm giving Romo a compliment by saying he's better than that last performance.

Guy: Thumb. That's all I am going to say. You try throwing a footbal with a strained thumb.

Romo has had some amazing games. He's also had some terrible games (see Detroit; Buffalo; Washington Part Deux).  His performance in the playoffs was far better than his terrible games, but a far cry from his top form.  As such I'd label it "average."  Yes, he was getting pressure  and I don't want to take anything away from him.  But he still was throwing passes a bit erratically sometimes and he did throw a last second interception.  The receivers were more to blame, but he has to take SOME responsibility too.

Redskins, Looking back, you're right, brilliant is a bit much.  But I do think he had a very good game.  If not for receivers that run their mouths better than their routes, he has a 4 TD game despite Giants D-line in his face.  I'd still give him a rating of 4/5 stars.

Yoxi, I think Romo is better when he is in play action.

Tony should stay in the pocket more....

Saying Romo's performance was "brilliant" in that game is going a bit far. I'm not sure how level headed that observation is.  Let's not go crazy here.

Slimjims, I spew opinions all the time as facts. But I am a certified nut. The whole tiff with the Giants G Men Headquarters isn't real. I was trying to pump some hits to his new site. We work together here at fansided, but I get myself in trouble all the time for being too rowdy. Oh well. I agree with everything you said though. Neil was wrong on Tony Romo.

One more thing for Drew. . the NFL came out and admitted that the int grounding call was a mistake so. . . you're wrong.

I already posted this on the Giants dude's website, but I figured I'd put it in both. .  . Ok, a couple of things I want throw in here.  Let me start by saying that, yes, I am a die hard Cowboys fan, but I feel I am a pretty level headed one.  One of my good friends is an intense Redskins fan, and we often have good open conversations about the status of our teams.  I honestly try to evaluate both the positives and negatives about my 'boys. That being said, and ignoring many of the irrelevant points (the whole Jessica Simpson story is made for tabloids and has nothing to do with football imo), I don't think that anyone who really watched that game can say that Romo lost the game.  I can count three touchdowns that were dropped or lost that had nothing to do with him. . THREE. . .Think about that.  If Fasano catches the ball, Crayton catches the ball and Crayton runs out his route at the end of the game, Romo has four touchdowns and zero interceptions.  Everyone would be raving about what an incredible job he did, and the whole Jessica story would be forgotten.Instead, his receivers let him down.  He made some incredible plays, and put Dallas in a position to win despite the fact that the Giants were putting intense pressure on him on EVERY play in the late 3rd and 4th quarters.  To say that his performance was, in any way, short of brilliant is either ill-advised, or simply an attempt to take shots at the guy.  Hey, if that's what you want to do, I'm fine with it, but at least be honest about your intentions.  You don't like him or his stardom, so you take the opportunity to redicule him when the team loses.  Frankly, I'd be willing to bet that many (if not most) Giants fans would trade Eli for Romo in a heartbeat.  And I'm not here to bash Eli, who has done an awesome job since the last week of the season, but that's just it. . .where has he been up to this point, and can he continue to keep his team in games?I'm not interested in the bashing, or the fight between sites, but I DO get annoyed when people try and espouse an opinion based on pure emotion as fact.  If you don't like the guy, then state all the ways that you don't like him. . but don't expect your views to be taken as seriously as those who express open and honest opinions that relate to performance on the field without stooping to tabloid gossip.

I'm of the mindset that every call that went against the cowboys was definitely a legit call.  Though Cowboy fans will claim that every call against them was a travesty on par with the "Tuck rule" game between the Raiders & Pats....BTW, I got a gold brick for you Bitchez...

Drew, the bad eveil Drew, IT was NOT intentional grounding. It was a ridiculous call, one of 4 in the game. But I am not using those as excuses. All I am saying is, the refs made some real bad calls.

Anyone watch adult swim? I just saw a hilarious skit on Richie Rich from Robot Chicken.

It's true...Eli's just doing his part not to lose the game for the Giants. It's the defense that deserves the credit...

I'm actually just having fun...bored and without pointing out the rest of the issues the cowboys have as a franchise.  Romo most certainly isn't at fault for the cowboys failure, as teh OL didn't do dick to help him.   Though it WAS intentional grounding...

I'm as big a cowboys hater as it gets, but even I think Romo is the real deal. I thought his confidence was shattered after last year's field goal fumble in Seattle, but he bounced right back and unfortunately he'll probably bounce back from this too.

Holy shit, Guy-With-The-Same-Name-As-Me, you've cleverly discovered a similarity between those two seemingly different words! R-omo rhymes with H-omo! You see, it's the -omo that does it.

Kudos to you, Drew, for your remarkable wit and candor. You have the observational skills of Sherlock Holmes.

Idiot.

I posted on there, i can't believe how many people are hating on Tony, hes' fucking phenominal. Consider this everyone, Peyton Manning lost his first 3 playoff appearances... so give me a fucking break, Tony just played his first full season and break many QB records for Dallas, if he threw 39 tds 5 years ago, he would be a monster. get off his back, he is jsut starting to roll, he will only get better. I honestly believe, he is going to become the best QB in the NFL
