Mock Draft Has Dallas Cowboys Taking WR, CB in First Round

An early mock draft here has Dallas picking 22nd and 31st. Here are the picks they selected:

22. Dallas (from Cleveland)
The Pick: DeSean Jackson, WR, California *
The Buzz: The Cowboys are looking to add a young playmaker on the outside.

MyBuzz: Personally, I won’t cry with this selection. However, if Early Doucet is available, I WANT HIM. Although he hasn’t played 100 percent this year, I think he is the best playmaker in the draft at WR. He’s picked to go at No. 15, so it is possible he will be there. Let’s hope Cleveland loses its next three games and gets a higher pick in the draft. Then Doucet is a Cowboy.

31. Dallas (12-1)
The Pick: Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas*
The Buzz: The Cowboys defense needs a top-flight cover man opposite Terence Newman.

MyBuzz: I don’t know a whole lot about this guy. Can someone shed some light about him for me? I do know of Brandon Flowers, living in Virginia and all, and I like him more. He’s picked for the Giants, but he’s not too far away in the order. Of course, the Cowboys could always look to free agency to fill this need and move up to get a running back like Steve Slaton or Darren McFadden. Right now, it looks like the Patriots are getting McFadden with the pick from the 49ers, who blew it this year.

But I like the WR-CB tandem in the draft. We need both desperately and there’s no reason why the Cowboys don’t go for it this year so the team doesn’t have to rebuild. Cornerback has been a weakness for awhile and our WRs are aging.
