Dallas Cowboys vs Detroit Lions 3rd Quarter

Detroit has the ball first and continue the strong running game with Kevin Jones gaining 7 yards. On 2nd and 3, Jones runs for two yards. On 3rd and 1 Kitna can’t reach his tight end and the Lions have to punt. This is a good sign for the Cowboys.

Dallas has the ball and will start at their own 3 yard line. On 1st and 10 Julius Jones runs for about a yard…sigh. On 2nd and 9 Terrell Owens makes his first catch of the game but there is a penalty: pass interference on Owens. The penalty is declined and on 3rd and 4 Owens makes his second catch for a first down. On 1st and 10 Romo throws an errant pass that appeared to slip out of his hands. On 2nd and 10 Julius Jones is stuffed because he refuses to hit the holes with speed and force! On 3rd and 9 there is a delay of game, and then Romo gets a delay of game for spiking the ball. On 3rd and 14, Romo is sacked for the second time. The Lions defense is amped up and playing well.

Detroit starts at their own 41. The Lions first two plays gained 1 yard. On 3rd and 9 Calvin Johnson makes an impressive catch along the sideline. Duckett then runs for 7 yards. He gets the ball again and barrels through the damn defense for five more damn yards. WHAT THE HELL!!! Mike Furrey gains six more yards. On 3rd and 5 Kitna makes a good throw to some guy they signed off the streets this week for a first down. On 1st and Goal, Kevin Jones runs for a couple yards. On 2nd and Goal on the Dallas 3, Jones scores for a touchdown. The Lions lead 27-14. This is UNBELIEVABLE! The Dallas Cowboys have allowed the Lions 3 rushing touchdowns for the first time in 40 games for the Lions—3 damn years.

In what is probably the biggest series of the game so far, Dallas gets the ball back with 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and MUST SCORE to keep this game in reach. On 1st and 10, Jason Witten gets a first down, his seventh catch. Romo passes again, this time to Marion Barber who gets an easy eight yards. Witten gets another first down on an eight-yard catch. On 1st and 10 Barber carries it for seven yards up the middle. Terrell Owens then catches one for four yards and a first down. On 1st and 10 Romo hits Witten for 11 yards. Dallas is at the Lions 7 yard line already. On 1st and Goal Romo tosses to Barber to the right for no gain. On 2nd and Goal Barber gets the pass but he is stuffed at the 2 yard line.

The 3rd Quarter ends with Lions leading 27-14.

My basic goal is to get updates up as quick as possible and I will go over the posts later to proofread them. If the readers get the basic understanding, then I’m OK with it. I am not trying to be perfect here, but I wanted to do something for the fans who couldn’t watch the game. Thanks.
